According to the case file, at around 5:30 p.m. on May 9, 2024, La Lan Minh (residing in Phu Tien village, Phu Mo commune, Dong Xuan district) came home from work and did not see his wife, La O Dai, at home. Knowing that Dai was drinking at the house of a woman in the same village, Minh drank 4 liters of alcohol and then rode his motorbike to tell his wife to come home. Dai did not come home because she saw her husband was drunk. The two argued, Minh slapped his wife and then went out to drink again.
At 8 p.m. that same day, Minh returned home and found his wife sleeping on a hammock. While the family was eating, Minh poured soup into Ms. Dai's mouth, waking her up. The two continued to argue and a fight broke out. Seeing a hammer nearby, Ms. Dai was afraid that Minh would hit her, so she took the hammer and went to her daughter's house. Minh then took a machete and went to his daughter's house to look for his wife.
Here, Ms. Dai and her daughter tried to persuade Minh to go home, at this time Ms. Dai gave Minh the hammer to keep. Suddenly, Minh turned around, used the machete to slash his wife's head, causing serious injury. After that, Ms. Dai received timely emergency care so her life was not in danger but she suffered an injury rate of 11%.
