Artist Vu The (Vo Thi The) composes folk songs and has had a chance to participate in mass art performances in and outside the province. Her sweet voice with folk songs has a folk sound with gentle melodies, full of emotions, leaving many impressions on the audience and judges. Many music lovers and those working in the Department of Culture and Information know this artist.

Gold medal collection

Artist Vu The is a member of the Music Association (Provincial Literature and Arts Association). When the delegation of artists from the Phu Yen Literature and Arts Association went to compose in the provinces of the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands, the whole delegation had the opportunity to listen to Vu The sing folk songs and revolutionary songs with a strange yet familiar voice. A member of the delegation of artists from the Provincial Literature and Arts Association introduced: Artist Vu The won many gold medals at mass art festivals when he was in Phu Khanh province, then Phu Yen province and participated with art troupes in regional festivals in Gia Lai and Da Nang .

Artist Vu The shared that, when she used to work at the Department of Culture and Information of Tay Hoa district, she won the Phu Yen provincial solo singing prize (before liberation). Then, in 1982, she participated in the Phu Khanh provincial police mass art performance and won the A prize for solo singing the songs " Ben Tre Posture" and "Singing about today's rice plants".

Next, in 1983, she won the Gold Medal at the Phu Khanh Province Mass Art Performance with the song "Tuy Hoa chin nho muon thuong" by Meritorious Artist - musician Cao Huu Nhac. Then in 1984, she won the A prize for the singing of workers and civil servants in Phu Khanh Province with the song "Thanh pho tinh yeu va noi nho" by musician Pham Minh Tuan. In 1984, she participated in the Military Region 5 Mass Art Performance in Da Nang, winning the Gold Medal for solo singing the song "Gan lam Truong Sa" by musician Hinh Phuoc Long and the song "Nostalgia for Tuy Hoa" by musician To Hai. Also in 1984, she participated with the Military Region 5 Art Troupe to compete in the military-level art performance and served the soldiers of the Tay Nguyen Army Corps in Gia Lai Province.

Then in 1985, she won the gold medal for solo singing at the Phu Khanh province mass art performance with the song "Tuy Hoa Rice Hometown" by musician Huy Cuong.

“Perhaps there is nothing more joyful than representing the province to participate in meaningful and useful activities in the mass art festival. Along with that, I am honored to participate in performances with art troupes from other provinces,” artist Vu The shared.

Artist Vu The won many gold medals at mass art festivals in Phu Khanh province and then Phu Yen province and participated with regional art troupes in Gia Lai and Da Nang.

The times she won gold medals were in her head so she told them in order. With shining eyes, Vu The continued telling us that not only did she sing, but she was also successful as an actress. That was in 1986, she won the award for best actress in the Phu Khanh province mobile information contest. Also in 1986, she participated in the Military Region 5 mass art performance, winning a gold medal for solo singing with the song "Uncle Ho, a boundless love" by musician Thuan Yen.

In 1987, she won a gold medal in solo singing at the Phu Khanh province mass art performance and an A prize at the Phu Khanh province Women's Singing Contest.

In 1991, she won a gold medal for solo singing at the Phu Yen Province Mass Art Festival with the song "Mien Trung Nho Bac" by musician Thuan Yen. In 1993, she won a silver medal for the song "Trông cây lại nhớ người" at the Phu Yen Province Mass Art Festival.

In 1995, she won a gold medal for solo singing the song "Nostalgia for Tuy Hoa" at the Phu Yen Province Mass Art Festival. In 2005, Tuy Hoa district was divided into Dong Hoa and Tay Hoa, and she became Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Dong Hoa district. In 2013, she became Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Dong Hoa district. In 2015, she became Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Dong Hoa district (now the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department). In July 2019, artist Vu The retired before Dong Hoa district became a town.

Composing folk songs

Artist Vu The also shared: From 1996-2000, she studied at Nha Trang College of Culture and Arts (Khanh Hoa), majoring in Cultural Management, Faculty of Mass Culture opened by Hanoi University of Culture.

"During a composing field trip to the South Central and Central Highlands provinces, during a cultural exchange, Vu The sang the song "Tuy Hoa Folk Song, Beautiful City". This song was composed by Vu The using the Bai Choi melody from a poem he composed himself," she said.

Artist Vu The is passionate about her work, composing Bai Choi, now many music lovers and those working in the Department of Culture and Information know her. Having known each other for a long time, I know that Vu The is passionate about participating and has made many contributions to mass art activities with songs with folk melodies, gentle melodies, full of emotions, contributing to improving spiritual life and preserving national cultural identity.
