Car fire prevention - an issue that cannot be ignored

A car was on fire.

To prevent and stop fires, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police provides instructions on car fire prevention measures as follows:

- Do not install additional devices or accessories that consume electricity differently from the standard design of the vehicle such as protective devices, horns, lights, etc., causing overload on the wires and power source in the vehicle.

- Maintain and service vehicles according to regulations at reputable facilities, ensuring quality.

- Proactively check to detect and promptly fix problems and failures when there are unusual signs (difficulty starting the engine, gasoline vapor, noise, high engine temperature, burning smell).

- Use fuel (gasoline, oil) of the correct type and quality as specified.

- When parking your car indoors or in a parking lot, turn off the ignition and keep it away from sources of fire or heat.

- Do not leave flammable or combustible substances in the engine compartment; do not leave eyeglasses, mineral water bottles (on the seat), beer, wine, alcoholic beverages, lighters, etc. in the car under hot sunlight.

- Should be equipped with suitable fire extinguishers such as portable ABC fire extinguishers of 2-4kg...

How to handle a car fire:

- When detecting smoke or unusually high temperatures, calmly park the car on the side of the road away from crowded areas, away from places with many flammable substances, and turn off the ignition.

- Quickly get people out of the car and find a way to put out the fire. Use a fire extinguisher, sand, or wet blanket to put out the fire, and call for help from others.

- Immediately call the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police at 114 or the nearest Police, local authorities... to coordinate fire fighting and take appropriate measures.
