In recent days, an open letter from Vinh Thanh High School (Vinh Thanh District, Can Tho City) about Xuan's situation has been shared with the community and has "touched" many teachers, students and philanthropists in Can Tho.

The open letter reads: "I am Truong Tuong Cong Ly Thi Song Xuan, currently a student in class 12c1 of the school. My family is in very difficult circumstances, my parents and Xuan live on a small boat.

Recently, due to heavy rain, the boat unfortunately sank and all the belongings were swept away. Currently, my family and I have no place to live, no property, no money. Although Xuan has a particularly difficult situation, she has always been a good and studious student. Currently, she is focusing on studying for her graduation exam and dreams of going to university.

The recent unfortunate incident will affect both Xuan's mental health and future. Therefore, the school calls for support from teachers, students and benefactors to help Xuan overcome the current difficulties."

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online reporter, Mr. Do Thanh Thien - principal of Vinh Thanh High School - said that Xuan's case was a case of sudden mobilization because since the boat sank, the family has been in a lot of trouble, and Xuan is studying to prepare for his dream of going to university.

At first, the school only mobilized teachers and students in the school, but realizing that Xuan needed more support to continue her dream of going to university, they called for everyone's cooperation.

"Xuan is a good student, studies well, and has the will to escape poverty through education. Therefore, we decided to call for support and donations from the community for the first time and register a bank account number to receive support for Xuan because of his especially difficult circumstances," said Mr. Thien.

Mr. Pham Thinh Su - Xuan's homeroom teacher - shared that the school's teaching staff and students alone have donated about 20 million VND to Xuan.

Mr. Su once visited Xuan's family to better understand her situation. Xuan was an only child, so her parents were determined to send her to school no matter how difficult the situation was. The sinking of the boat meant a total loss.

Currently, Xuan’s family has rented a place to live for 300,000 VND/month to shelter him from the rain and sun so that he can finish his 12th grade studies with peace of mind. Many teachers, friends and students at the school support Xuan.

"Some students donated 50,000 VND, some donated 100,000 VND, some went home to mobilize their parents to support Xuan in the spirit of sharing between teachers and students, and friends. I also helped Xuan with exam review materials, and brought the donation money to hand to the family," Mr. Su shared.

Faced with the kindness of teachers, friends and philanthropists, Xuan determined to pass the university entrance exam and continue his dream of becoming a history teacher.

"I am very touched to receive love from the community. I promise not to falter in the face of difficulties, determined to succeed so that in the future, if possible, I will come back to help other people in difficult situations like me," Xuan said.
