Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh summarized the planning of Thua Thien Hue in 13 words: Identity, smart, adaptive, green, clean, beautiful, safe, sustainable. The two above-mentioned plans have special significance and importance, creating a legal corridor in planning a strategy for rapid, comprehensive and sustainable socio -economic development, creating new development space, unlocking resources and exploiting more effectively the potential, strengths and distinct comparative advantages of Thua Thien Hue province. According to the plan, Thua Thien Hue sets the goal of becoming a centrally-governed city by 2025 with a typical heritage urban area of Vietnam; one of the large and unique centers of Southeast Asia in terms of culture, tourism and specialized healthcare; one of the major centers of the country in terms of science - technology, multi-disciplinary, multi-field education and training, high quality. In the photo is the Ky Dai area, Ngo Mon Square - Hue Imperial City. Thua Thien Hue is a land of spiritual land, human genius, culture, historical ancient capital, world heritage city, with 7 world cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO, of which 5 heritages belong to Hue alone, especially the Complex of Hue Monuments with the Imperial Citadel and the tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty kings and lords. In the photo is a cluster of architectural works inside the Gia Long Tomb Complex (Thien Tho Lang), located in Huong Tho Commune, Hue City. This place has just completed the restoration process, with a cost of more than 40 billion VND. Thien Tho Lang is the tomb of Emperor Gia Long (1762-1820), the founding king of the Nguyen Dynasty. This is a complex of many tombs in the royal family. Also located in Huong Tho commune, Hue city is the tomb of King Minh Mang (Hieu Lang). The tomb is located on Cam Ke mountain, about 14km from Hue city, near Bang Lang intersection, where the Huong river meets. The tomb was started in September 1840 and continued by King Thieu Tri, completing it in 1843. Hieu Lang is a large-scale architectural model consisting of 40 large and small works, including palaces, temples and pavilions... arranged on a vertical axis along the 700m long Than Dao road from Dai Hong Mon at the outermost to the foot of the wall of the citadel behind the king's tomb. The shape of the mausoleum resembles a person resting with his knees on Kim Phung mountain, his legs stretched out to the river junction in front, the two halves of Trung Minh lake like two naturally hanging arms. Tu Duc Tomb (Khiem Lang) was built in a narrow valley in Duong Xuan Thuong village (now Thuong Ba village, Thuy Xuan ward, Hue city). This is one of the most beautiful works of royal architecture in the Nguyen Dynasty. The tomb is located in a La Thanh circle of about 12 hectares, including nearly 50 large and small architectural works, spread out in clusters on high and low lands about 10 meters apart. The layout of the tomb consists of two main parts, on two parallel axes, with Giang Khiem mountain in the front as the front, Duong Xuan mountain as the back, and Luu Khiem lake as the Minh Duong element. The works in the tomb in both the temple and tomb areas have the word Khiem in their names. The whole view of Tu Duc Tomb is like a large park. Through Vu Khiem gate, you will reach Luu Khiem lake area, on the lake there are Xung Khiem pavilion and Du Khiem pavilion, where the king often came to admire flowers, write poems and read books. Khai Dinh Tomb (Ung Lang) was built on the slope of Chau Chu Mountain (also known as Chau E) in Thuy Bang Commune, Hue City. The tomb began construction on September 4, 1920 and took 11 years to complete. King Khai Dinh (1916-1925) was the 12th king of the Nguyen Dynasty and the last person to build a tomb. To build the tomb, King Khai Dinh sent people to France to buy iron, steel, cement, and terracotta tiles; to China and Japan to buy porcelain and glass for construction. Compared to other tombs in the mausoleum system in Hue, Khai Dinh Tomb has a small area but is very elaborate and time-consuming. It is the result of the integration of many architectural styles of Asia, Europe, classical and modern Vietnam. Dong Khanh Tomb (Tu Lang) was built on land belonging to Cu Si village, now Thuong Hai village, Thuy Xuan ward, Hue city. The construction of Dong Khanh Tomb took place over the reigns of four kings (1888-1923), so the tomb bears the mark of two architectural schools of two different historical periods. At the end of 2018, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center completely restored the Dong Khanh Tomb relic site with a budget of nearly 30 billion VND. By the end of June 2022, the restoration was completed and opened to visitors. According to researchers, the Nguyen Dynasty lasted 143 years with 13 kings, due to historical events, there were only 7 mausoleums. In addition to the above-mentioned mausoleums, there are also the mausoleums of King Thieu Tri (Xuong Lang), Duc Duc (An Lang, the resting place of 3 kings). These 7 mausoleums are all located to the west of Hue Citadel. Besides, there are 9 mausoleums of Nguyen Lords, including: Truong Co (Nguyen Hoang), Truong Dien (Nguyen Phuc Nguyen), Truong Dien (Nguyen Phuc Lan), Truong Hung (Nguyen Phuc Tan), Truong Mau (Nguyen Phuc Thai), Truong Thanh (Nguyen Phuc Chu), Truong Phong (Nguyen Phuc Chu), Truong Thai (Nguyen Phuc Khoat), Truong Thieu (Nguyen Phuc Thuan), all located in Huong Tho commune, Hue city. In addition, there are many mausoleums of the Nguyen Lords' concubines and the mausoleums of the Nguyen Dynasty's queens and queen mothers.
In addition to the Hue Citadel system and the Nguyen Dynasty tombs and mausoleums, Hue City also has many unique architectural works, located along both banks of the Perfume River, such as Ho Quyen (left) - an arena built under the Nguyen Dynasty to organize deadly battles between elephants and tigers. Thien Mu Pagoda (right), annually attracts a large number of people and tourists to visit and worship. According to Dr. Architect Ngo Viet Nam Son, the Perfume River plays the role of the most important landscape axis of Hue city today as well as the expanded Hue city in the future. Therefore, when preserving and developing the two river banks, it must be considered as a symphony. In the central area of the inner city, on the north bank of the Perfume River is the complex of Hue ancient capital relics, temples, pagodas, cultural institutions, while on the south bank is the heritage area left by France from the 20th century, which needs to be carefully preserved. Thua Thien Hue needs to create a green corridor along the two river banks, with harmonious works, carefully planned to create a methodical, unified and attractive landscape. In addition, it is necessary to develop riverside urban areas in the remaining areas. According to Mr. Son, each section of the river will carry out a development stage in a harmonious and unified correlation with each other.
