Fishing boat sinks, 8 fishermen manage to swim to shore but one person is missing

At noon on June 4, Phu Quy Port Border Guard Station ( Binh Thuan Province Border Guard) said that the search and rescue ship BP 11-19-01 along with many officers, soldiers and functional forces are still actively searching for the missing fishermen of the fishing boat BTh 97155 TS that was in distress.

According to initial information, at around 6:00 p.m. on June 3, fishing boat BTh 97155 TS, carrying 9 workers and captained by Mr. Van Thanh Sy, departed Phu Quy port to go fishing.

After traveling for 1 hour, about 3 nautical miles southwest of Phu Quy island, this fishing boat encountered big waves and strong winds that broke the water and sank.

At this time, 8 fishermen promptly jumped into the sea to swim safely to shore at 9:00 p.m. the same day, while 1 fisherman, Mr. Tran Van Truong (35 years old, residing in Long Hai commune, Phu Quy district) was trapped on the boat.

Upon receiving the information, Phu Quy Port Border Guard Station quickly sent a search and rescue notice to vehicles operating around the area of the fishing boat in distress for assistance.

At the same time, mobilized search and rescue ship BP 11-19-01 with 8 officers and soldiers to search and rescue missing fishermen.
