Buon Ma Thuot Air Traffic Control Station officially put into operation

The new Buon Ma Thuot Air Traffic Control Tower will help increase the capacity of approach and at-aerodrome flight operations within controlled airspace, meeting the growing demand for air travel in the Central Highlands region.

Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation - VATM has just announced the operation of Buon Ma Thuot Air Traffic Control Station. This is one of the key projects of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation. The project has a total investment capital of more than 74 billion VND, from the development investment capital of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation.

Buon Ma Thuot Air Traffic Control Tower is built on an area of 1,500 m², located in Buon Ma Thuot Airport area. Construction items include a 3-storey above-ground control building and 1 semi-basement floor, with a construction area of 1,734 m² directly connected to the control tower.

The highlight of the project is the command tower with a height of 37 m, designed with 12 floors, with a cabin area of 60 m². The circular tower body with metal cladding combined with glass is the architectural and landscape highlight of the airport area. Inside the cabin, the Air Traffic Control Tower is designed to be spacious, ensuring enough working space for the forces participating in VATM's flight operations and ensuring the necessary conditions for mixed command for military and civil forces.

The entire specialized equipment system of the Station, including: VHF A/G radio information system, VCCS voice switching system, digital recording system, GPS clock system, transmission equipment system, Console system, etc. are invested synchronously and modernly to meet ICAO standards.

After being put into use, Buon Ma Thuot Air Traffic Control Station will replace the existing Air Traffic Control Station. With modern equipment, it will increase the coverage and visibility, thereby increasing the ability to control approach flights - at the airport in the controlled airspace, meeting the increasing demand for air travel in the area today and ensuring to meet the increasing flight traffic in the future.

Together with the infrastructure and synchronous equipment at Buon Ma Thuot Airport, the Air Traffic Control Station will ensure the flight operation capacity of 15 flights per hour, equivalent to about 131,000 flights per year; ensure safe, smooth and efficient flight operations for all civil and military flights; improve economic efficiency for airlines, contributing to ensuring national security and defense in the Central Highlands region in general and Dak Lak province in particular.
