Apple's M3 Pro chip is disappointing in terms of performance.

Both the M2 Pro and M3 Pro are equipped with up to 12-core CPUs (central processing units), but the M3 Pro has two fewer high-performance CPU cores. Apple states that the M3 Pro also has 25% less memory bandwidth and fewer GPU cores than the M2 Pro.

Overall, the M3 series chips not only offer performance and energy efficiency improvements over the M2 series chips, but also feature an upgraded GPU (graphics processing unit) with hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading (for polygon computation and processing in graphics) to improve graphics rendering in games.

Additionally, Apple's specifications indicate that all new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models offer a maximum brightness of up to 600 nits for standard/SDR content, a 20% increase from the 500 nits maximum on previous models. This means the laptops now have a maximum brightness similar to Apple's Studio Display line.
