Choose ecotourism

About 40km from My Son along Highway 14H, the wild elephant population has lived for generations in Que Lam commune, Que Son district, covering an area of about 10,000 hectares, which is the only sparse forest ecosystem in Quang Nam.

On May 20, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province issued Decision 1324 approving the Project on eco-tourism, resort and entertainment of the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area for the period 2025 - 2030.

This is a very important decision to plan and provide orientations, solutions for development and investment attraction; link and cooperate in tourism development, promote community tourism activities in the buffer zone. From here, attract local workers to participate in tourism activities, both improving people's lives and raising awareness of environmental protection and biodiversity protection in the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area.

Types of tourism allowed to operate include eco-tourism, community tourism, resort and health care tourism; research tourism on biodiversity. Experiences of the relationship between forest resources and people in the buffer zone, sports tourism and some other types of tourism (craft villages, cuisine, photography...) will also be calculated for exploitation.

See elephants and explore the forests

In the core area of Que Lam commune, elephant and ungulate observation tourism products are approved. Combining accommodation, resorts and adjacent eco-tourism sites in the area into product packages.

Specifically, Sam Nai tourist destination is the tourist center of the elephant and ungulate viewing tour at the Bang Tranh Lon, Khe Cat, Na Lau, Can Du and Khe Rong landscape observation stations.

Tourist site 532 is a visitor center for terrestrial eco-tours with bird watching and trekking tours along the Eastern Truong Son Road, forest trails at Chua Cua, Khe Nuoc Trong and Khe Nuoc Vang sites.

Truong Son Dong tourist destination will be the place to organize underwater eco-tours with experiences of rowing on the lake and stopping at Quyen Pagoda, Rau Ram, Da Cuc...

Chua Co tourist destination is a resort with bungalows under the natural forest canopy combining eco-tourism services on the lake and cuisine.

The four tourist destinations are planned into four investment projects. Currently, the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area Management Board - the first Forest Management Board in the province to have a tourism project approved - is calling for capable and dedicated organizations and individuals to invest in the tourist destinations.

Hopefully in the coming time, the wild values at the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area will be exploited to develop into tourism types and products serving relaxation, entertainment, sightseeing, learning, scientific research, experience, and indigenous culture.

Establishing tourist routes and creating attractive destinations to create sustainable livelihoods for communities living near forests, thereby increasing awareness of preserving the natural habitat.

Let's wait for the day not far away, the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area becomes one of the attractive and unique tourist destinations of Quang Nam and the whole country.
