(VLO) As the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024 approaches, Java rambutan is priced between 32,000 and 34,000 VND/kg. This price is higher than the selling price during last year's Tet holiday and also higher than the current price of Thai rambutan.

According to rambutan farmers, the price of Java rambutan has been continuously increasing for about a week now. Compared to previous years, this year's Java rambutan yield is higher and the selling price is higher, bringing higher profits to farmers. On average, each hectare of 5-year-old rambutan trees yields 3-3.5 tons/hectare.
Over the years, thanks to the government's investment in enclosed dikes, farmers have been able to proactively manage their irrigation water sources. Local authorities have encouraged farmers to plant rambutan trees to bear fruit in staggered seasons, avoiding the situation of a bumper harvest leading to price drops. In addition, farmers have gained more experience and techniques in cultivation, coupled with favorable weather this year, resulting in high yields of Java rambutan.
Farmers predict that the price of Java rambutan will remain high until the Lunar New Year. Currently, Long Ho district has the largest rambutan growing area in the province with 1,556 hectares. Last week, farmers harvested approximately 53 tons. With the current yield and selling price, rambutan growers are very pleased and can expect a more prosperous Lunar New Year.
