Recently, Suan Dusit University conducted a nationwide survey on Thai people and the 33rd SEA Games . The results showed that 82.67% of respondents knew that the 33rd SEA Games would be held in Thailand, and 68.85% believed that hosting the Southeast Asian Games would help boost tourism and the country's sustainable economy .
According to Dr. Pornpan Buathong, President of Suan Dusit University, the survey results reflect people's expectations that the SEA Games is an opportunity to develop the economy, tourism , and at the same time build confidence and enhance the country's image.
Associate Professor Dr. Rungnapa Lertpatcharaphong, Dean of the Faculty of Hotel Management, International Program, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, Suan Dusit University, analyzed that the survey results showed that Thai people viewed the SEA Games as an economic tool rather than a sporting event, because they expected the event's festive atmosphere to boost the grassroots economy and sports tourism, while emphasizing safety and environmental factors as the foundation for the event's success.

Meanwhile, Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn believes that the 33rd SEA Games and 13th ASEAN Para Games held in Thailand will create economic value of more than 5 billion baht (5,285,000,000 baht) and provide 12,000-14,000 new jobs in many fields, from construction, services, transportation, tourism and sports.
“In addition, at least 12,000 athletes, coaches and other support staff from ASEAN countries will come to Thailand. This will create economic circulation during the event in all host and neighboring provinces. Their spending will boost the economy and sports tourism, creating a significant source of revenue for the domestic economy,” Mr. Atthakorn said.
In addition, host country Thailand also pointed out the expected benefits of hosting both events, including enhancing the image of the land of pagodas in the eyes of the ASEAN community, affirming its leading position in the tourism and sports industry, as well as inspiring Thai athletes and youth through gold medals.
