On August 29, reporting to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. PNH (living in Hanoi ) said that he had booked a hotel room in Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province to stay from August 26 to 29 through the online platform Agoda. He chose to pay at the hotel.

When Mr. H. arrived at the hotel to check in, the staff gave him full information about his credit card that he had filled out on Agoda. The card information was even printed out and the receptionists could see it freely! The printed card information included the full card number and the secret code (3 CVV numbers).

"Revealing credit card information like mine is very dangerous, because a third party can take advantage or steal information to make online payments. When asked about the issue of credit card information disclosure, the hotel staff did not give a satisfactory explanation, but only said that "every customer here is like that" - Mr. H. was upset.

Many people who are using credit cards are shocked when they know about this case. Because currently, many credit card payment services only require providing the card number and 3 secret CVV codes, so the risk of cardholders losing money is very high.

To prevent risks, Mr. H. had to block the online payment function for the above credit card.

Credit card owners were shocked to see that the full information of their cards saved on the Agoda system was sent to the hotel where they booked the room.

When H. reported to Agoda, the online platform's customer service department apologized to him for the incident; saying that the hotel "is committed to strictly managing personal information and ensuring the security and safety of customer information."

Responding to reporters about the above incident, Agoda representative said that they always put customers' privacy first and are committed to seriously protecting information.

"The recent incident was an unfortunate incident caused by human error. We are actively working with our hotel partner to resolve the issue and ensure that a similar incident does not recur. We have contacted the customer to assist in resolving the issue," Agoda informed.

Regarding the privacy policy posted on Agoda's official website, the platform said that when customers book a room, Agoda may collect "name, address, phone number, credit card details, email address..."; and "may share customer information with travel service providers, third-party service providers, business partners and group companies"...
