Meta President: Meta's new VR glasses will be manufactured in Vietnam

Meta's external relations chairman confirmed that Meta's new VR glasses will be manufactured in Vietnam and announced a partnership with Hanoi National University to develop a course on AI capabilities.

On the morning of October 1, on the sidelines of the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 in Hanoi, Mr. Nick Clegg - Chairman of Global External Relations of Meta shared with the press about some of Meta's commitments and plans for the Vietnamese market. This is Mr. Nick Clegg's first visit to Vietnam as Chairman of Global External Relations of Meta Group. Mr. Nick Clegg expressed his joy at the dynamic and strong development of Vietnam and said he was very proud to help millions of Vietnamese people connect and engage with each other every day through the use of Meta products including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Whatsapp, ... He said that millions of businesses around the world as well as in Vietnam can use Meta's application to connect with their customers. Vietnam is one of the leading countries in the world using Meta's conversational business function. Mr. Nick Clegg expressed his joy at Vietnam's dynamic and strong development. Specifically, Meta has had a training program for more than one million students, teachers and parents on the use of digital tools. "We have also trained more than 90,000 small and medium-sized enterprises to be able to use tools and applications to expand their business." Meta's representative also said that it was an honor to agree with Hanoi National University to build a digital skills training program to improve artificial intelligence capacity in Vietnam. "We have cooperated with Hanoi National University to build a course on AI capacity for the school's students. These courses will start from January 2025. We can only use AI well if we understand. We can only understand if we have goodeducation and training potential," said Mr. Nick Clegg.

Meta's Chairman is also proud to have deployed an open source artificial intelligence model called Llama 3.1, which is completely free for users. "This is very important because in Vietnam, 60% of the population is under 45 years old, which means a young population. Vietnam is also a place that trains tens of thousands of IT engineers every year, with strengths in the field of innovation. Therefore, the Llama 3.1 artificial intelligence model will contribute to promoting production for businesses, developers, and programming teams in Vietnam. Meta is very proud to contribute to promoting the participation and contribution of all parties in the new era - the era of artificial intelligence creating GenAI." Meta Chairman Nick Clegg also emphasized the 3 committed contents in Vietnam. Accordingly, from now until the end of 2024, Meta will deploy AI assistants for businesses in Vietnam. This will help improve productivity for businesses that are currently using Messenger. Vietnam is also a pioneer in using AI integrated with Meta's Messenger. Mr. Nick Clegg also confirmed that Meta's Quest 3S (VR glasses) headset will be manufactured in Vietnam. "We will coordinate with domestic partners to produce Quest 3S in Vietnam. This activity will create more than 1,000 new jobs, putting Vietnam at the center of the world map of metaverse products and technology," said Mr. Nick Clegg. "We are very confident in the investment environment in Vietnam, because otherwise we would not announce the products we will produce." Finally, Mr. Nick Clegg said that Meta AI will be deployed in October 2024 and Vietnam is a pioneering country much earlier than some European countries. Meta AI will be deployed in Vietnamese and free for users. Meta AI is an artificial intelligence assistant capable of interacting and talking to people. "Vietnam has a high potential to become a regional power, because you have all the basic elements to take advantage of AI as a driving force for growth and increasingly use digital tools more effectively," said Vice President of Meta. Sharing about Vietnam's approach to AI, Meta's leader said that Vietnam is currently in a very good position to succeed: "You have the strength of a young population, a good educational foundation, and a strong competitive spirit.
