President Vo Van Thuong meets King Charles III at Buckingham Palace

On May 5 (UK time), at a meeting with King Charles III, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and People of Vietnam,President Vo Van Thuong congratulated the King, Queen Camilla and the British Royal Family and People.

The Head of State of Vietnam believes that under the reign of King Charles III, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will continue to prosper.

Vietnam attaches great importance to developing the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership. President Vo Van Thuong hopes that the King and the British Royal Family will continue to actively support the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries to develop more deeply and comprehensively in the coming time, and at the same time conveys a respectful invitation to the British King to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.

King Charles III expressed his gratitude for the affection and deep concern of the Vietnamese high-ranking leaders for him and the British Royal Family. He was impressed by Vietnam's achievements in socio -economic development and comprehensive and active foreign relations in recent times.

The King also appreciated Vietnam's commitment to zero net emissions by 2050 and emphasized that he personally strongly supports cooperation between the two countries in combating climate change. He said that the AstraZeneca Group's investment of 50 million USD to restore forests and landscapes in Vietnam is very meaningful.

The British Royal Family and King Charles III personally have always cared about and supported Vietnam's innovation and development as well as the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership. In 2023, which marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the head of the UK hopes that in the next 50 years, the two countries will continue to work together to build an even better relationship.

Over the past 50 years, the relationship between the two countries has been growing strongly and has great potential to develop into a modern, future-oriented cooperative relationship, in which the important role of King Charles III - a person who sympathizes with Vietnam - must be mentioned.

While still in his position as Crown Prince of England, he received many Vietnamese leaders and proposed further strengthening the relationship between the two countries in various fields.

President Vo Van Thuong and 2,300 guests from inside and outside the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland attended the coronation of King Charles III on the morning of May 6 (UK time). The most special event for Britain in the past 70 years. The ceremony was solemnly held at Westminster Abbey according to traditional rituals and customs dating back more than 1,000 years.

The coronation follows his investiture last September, following the death of Queen Elizabeth.

The participation of President Vo Van Thuong at the coronation ceremony is an activity to concretize the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress on comprehensive and extensive international integration.
