Within the framework of his official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand, on the afternoon of December 8, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue had a meeting with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Srettha Thavisin.

The Thai Prime Minister highly appreciated the significance of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's visit to Thailand on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership, helping to create momentum to develop cooperation between the two countries more deeply and substantially.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin sent his warm regards to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; emphasizing that Vietnam is one of Thailand's very important partners in the region.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin congratulated the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Thai House of Representatives on signing a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation during the official visit to Thailand by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue thanked Thailand for its warm and thoughtful reception and respectfully conveyed to the Thai Prime Minister the greetings and best wishes of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Vietnamese leaders; and conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to the Thai Prime Minister to visit Vietnam and co-chair the 4th Joint Cabinet Meeting in 2024.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated Thailand on its successful election and election of a new government, and believed that Thailand would successfully implement the national development strategy until 2027, continuing to consolidate and enhance Thailand's international position.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue informed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of some outstanding results of his talks with the President of the Thai National Assembly, emphasizing that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation by the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Thai House of Representatives will further promote relations between the two parliaments, contributing to strengthening the strategic partnership, and hoped that the two countries would soon upgrade their relations at an appropriate time.

The Thai Prime Minister affirmed that he will visit Vietnam in 2024 and agreed to upgrade the two countries' relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The two leaders assessed that cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand is developing rapidly and effectively in all key areas; trust is increasing. Notably, within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Thailand maintains its position as the largest trade partner (two-way turnover in 2022 reached a record of nearly 22 billion USD) and the second largest investor (nearly 14 billion USD) in Vietnam; cultural and people-to-people exchanges are increasingly vibrant.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; effectively implementing signed agreements, including the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership for the 2022-2027 period; striving to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD in a balanced direction and reduce trade barriers.

The Prime Minister of Thailand agreed with the Chairman of the National Assembly on the two sides closely coordinating to effectively implement the “Three Connectivity” strategy on the basis of ensuring common interests and win-win; promoting cooperation to maintain existing supply chains and form new strategic supply chains, creating products with high added value; connecting transportation and infrastructure, increasing flight frequency, opening more routes connecting localities and tourist destinations of the two countries, enhancing tourism cooperation, people-to-people exchange; enhancing cooperation in green economy, clean energy, equitable energy transition, etc. to promote sustainable development.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed his delight that National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will visit Udon Thani province during this visit; highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Thailand, and agreed that the Thai Government will continue to facilitate the Vietnamese community to do business and live, promote the role of a bridge of friendship between the people of the two countries as well as preserve and promote President Ho Chi Minh relics in Thailand.

Discussing regional and international issues, the two sides agreed to continue close cooperation at international and regional organizations and forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations, ASEAN, and the Mekong sub-region; strengthen ASEAN's central role; and coordinate to maintain ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
