Chinese President Xi Jinping leaves Hanoi

HANOI - General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife boarded a special plane leaving Noi Bai airport, concluding his official State visit to Vietnam on the afternoon of December 13.

At 5:00 p.m., Mr. Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived at Noi Bai airport after meeting with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife with Vietnamese-Chinese friendship figures and young generations.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue saw off Mr. Tap and his wife at the airport.

This morning, Mr. Xi Jinping visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Afterwards, President Vo Van Thuong held talks, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with Mr. Xi.

In the afternoon, Vietnam and China issued a Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, striving for the happiness of the people of the two countries, for the cause of peace and progress of mankind.

Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived in Hanoi at noon on December 12, beginning a two-day state visit. This is the third time Xi has visited Vietnam as General Secretary and President of China, after 2015 and 2017.

The State-level welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping took place the same afternoon at the Presidential Palace, chaired by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, with a 21-gun salute. After the talks, the two leaders reviewed 36 cooperation agreements in many fields signed by the two sides and attended a tea party.

During the visit, Ms. Peng Liyuan, wife of Mr. Xi Jinping, visited the Vietnamese Women's Museum and interacted with students of Hanoi National University.

China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for many consecutive years, while Vietnam is China's largest partner in ASEAN. Total bilateral trade turnover in 2022 reached 175.6 billion USD, of which Vietnam's exports reached 57.7 billion USD, while imports were 117.87 billion USD. As of October 20, China ranked 6th among 143 countries and territories investing FDI in Vietnam with 4,105 valid projects and a total registered capital of more than 26.5 billion USD.
