He emphasized that in recent times, the Party and the State have had high expectations for Ho Chi Minh City - a special urban area that is aiming for the status of an international "super city". The tasks for the city are very heavy, but the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City are making efforts to realize the goals set out in the City Party Congress, especially in the context of many fluctuations in the world and regional economy .
According to the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, despite facing many challenges, Ho Chi Minh City's economy still achieved a growth rate of more than 8% and is striving to reach 8.5% this year. Budget revenue has completed the plan even though there are still more than 1.5 months left to the end of the year; the city aims to exceed revenue by 25%. The investment environment continues to improve, many domestic and foreign business delegations come to work and sign cooperation agreements; Ho Chi Minh City is currently leading the country in attracting FDI capital.
Regarding administrative reform, Mr. Duoc said that the spirit of serving the people has clearly changed from the city level to the ward and commune level. Social security work continues to be focused on: 168 communes and wards promote care for poor households, build charity houses, repair dilapidated houses, support scholarships; many charity programs have been implemented, bringing warmth and humanity - a characteristic of Ho Chi Minh City.
Referring to the chaotic situation in the city center, he said the city is actively calling for investment in the urban railway line and the overall renovation of the Ben Thanh roundabout area. In particular, the 23/9 Park area will have basements, shopping malls, supermarkets, creating a new look for the central core area. These are all large projects that take time and at the same time need the support and sharing of the people.

Regarding urgent social issues, Mr. Duoc said that Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on solving major problems: flooding, traffic jams, pollution and housing along canals. The city aims to basically reduce traffic congestion by 2035 by expanding beltways and urban railways, and gradually moving the port system out of the center to reduce pollution. The city also encourages people to gradually switch to using electric vehicles to reduce emissions.
He acknowledged that flooding is still a difficult problem. The city is researching and implementing comprehensive anti-flooding projects; at the same time, people need to raise awareness, not littering on the streets, not dumping leftover food into the sewers causing local blockages. "The city will take care of the big things, but to promote effectiveness, we really need the cooperation of the people," he shared.
In the health sector, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that the quality of medical examination and treatment has been improved, and the treatment drugs are better than before. He added that according to the Central Government's policy, from 2026, people will be able to have free health check-ups and medical treatment once a year, considering this an important step to improve the quality of social security for all people.
| Mr. Le Duy Hanh - Party cell secretary, head of the Front Work Committee of Quarter 9 - said that the Inter-quarter currently has more than 2,422 households with 12,346 people, of which the Chinese ethnic group accounts for more than 2,390 people. People's lives are stable, more than 99% of households actively participate in activities to protect the environment, urban order, traffic safety and eliminate illegal advertising. The movement “15 minutes for a civilized and clean city” is maintained regularly every week, contributing to bringing Directive 19-CT/TU on “Ho Chi Minh City residents do not litter on the streets and canals” into order, becoming a beautiful habit of the community. The neighborhoods also give priority to social security work: 100% of near-poor households are taken care of, and disadvantaged students are supported with Nguyen Huu Tho scholarships. Many new models such as "Digital transformation", "Party flag and national flag street", "Green, clean, beautiful alley", "Solidarity, solidarity and affection"... are actively responded to by the people. Thanks to the joint efforts of the whole community, the neighborhood has no more poor households, continuously maintains its cultural title, security and order; people's lives are increasingly improved, and solidarity is firmly fostered. |
