Also attending were representatives of the City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Department of Science and Technology (KH-CN), the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, representatives of universities in the city, and 13 scientists who won the Golden Globe Award and the 2025 Science and Technology Female Student Award, organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The bravery of Ho Chi Minh City youth
Congratulating the 13 outstanding young scientists, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy emphasized: You are typical young faces, representing the intelligence, bravery and aspiration to conquer knowledge of the young generation of the city named after beloved Uncle Ho. The Golden Globe Award and the Female Science and Technology Student Award are two noble national titles, honoring young talents with outstanding achievements in research, innovation and application of science and technology to life.
The fact that Ho Chi Minh City has 13 individuals named in the national list is a great honor and pride, demonstrating the quality of human resources, creative environment and aspiration of the city's youth.

The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized: Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo clearly identified "Developing science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation is one of three strategic breakthroughs." That is an affirmation that Vietnam's development path today cannot rely on resources or cheap labor, but must rely on the intelligence and creativity of Vietnamese people. Along with that, Resolution No. 71 on education and training affirmed: "Education is the top national policy, the foundation for rapid and sustainable development." These two major orientations put people and knowledge - especially the young generation of intellectuals and students - at the center of the country's development.

“For those of you honored today, I hope that this noble award is not only a recognition, but also a source of encouragement for you to continue to nurture your passion, assert yourself and contribute more to the city and the country. Each of your successes – whether a research project, a creative product or an innovative idea – contributes to glorifying the city, a city of intelligence, of love and aspiration to rise. From topics on artificial intelligence, biomedicine, new materials, environmental technology to community service initiatives, you have proven that the city's youth are not only dynamic in action, but also creative in thinking and pioneering in innovation,” emphasized comrade Tran Thi Dieu Thuy.
Recommendations from young scientists
At the meeting, young scientists shared their wishes, recommendations and directly discussed with city leaders and departments and branches to promote breakthroughs in scientific research and innovation.

Dr. Mai Ngoc Xuan Dat, Researcher at the Institute of Advanced Materials Technology (VNU-HCM) shared: "I persistently applied for 3 years and achieved the Golden Globe Award in 2025. From my work, I think that the city needs to build a fund to support science and technology development to develop strong research groups and potential research groups. In particular, it is necessary to support the connection between the city, universities and businesses to place orders and commercialize research products. In addition, there also needs to be a certain source of funding for scientists to access, learn and cooperate with organizations and partners in scientific research.
Sharing more, Dr. Dang Thi Le Hang, Deputy Head of the Department of Biomedical Materials Technology, Institute of Advanced Technology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) proposed: The city and universities need to research to form shared research rooms. In fact, the current context is interdisciplinary research, but in reality, the research strengths and laboratories of schools and institutes in Ho Chi Minh City have not been linked and coordinated to fully exploit their strengths.
As a female student majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology (VNU-HCM), student Tran Thi Kieu My said that in the same class there were 400 students but among them there were 4 female students and she was selected for the talented engineer program. In fact, female students studying engineering, especially mechanical engineering, are rare but inevitable. The important thing is that you must have passion and dare to pursue your passion to achieve it. Therefore, to encourage and inspire female students to pursue their passion in studying engineering, the school, together with the City and the Youth Union, should have programs and policies to support female students studying and researching in these fields.

Passionate about the field of artificial intelligence (AI), female student Vo Ngoc Minh Anh (University of Natural Sciences - VNU-HCM) said: AI today has a huge impact on all fields and professions. Therefore, her research direction will be to promote AI application projects to preserve and promote Vietnamese identity and culture, and at the same time establish a network of female scientists - culture - creativity in HCMC. From there, I hope that the city's leaders need to have funding sources to support young scientists and have preferential financial policies for scientific topics that women participate in or lead.
Winning the prize with the topic "Research and development of thermosensitive hydrogel systems for application in energy-saving smart windows", student Ha Ngoc Nhu Y (Ton Duc Thang University) suggested: Research in the direction of new materials is a difficult direction. It is even more difficult when wanting to study at a higher level or continue to pursue and develop this research direction. Therefore, the City government, the Department of Science and Technology as well as schools need to have appropriate mechanisms and policies to support young scientists to choose the research direction of new materials. If there is no output and further direction for topics on new materials, it will be difficult to attract young scientists.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy expressed: "I did not expect the scientific atmosphere and spirit that young scientists inspire the city's scientific leaders to be so hot. 13 young scientists and school representatives sent 20 proposals and recommendations to the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, which was beyond expectations. We will ask the Department of Science and Technology and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union to study, coordinate and propose solutions to present to the city's leaders for these proposals and recommendations."
Ho Chi Minh City is making efforts to promote the construction and establishment of 6 advanced research centers (2 centers have been established), along with the innovation centers of the city and of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City. High-quality human resources, the intelligence of scientists, especially the enthusiasm and intelligence of young scientists of universities in Ho Chi Minh City are a great competitive advantage. This will be a great advantage of Ho Chi Minh City to promote breakthroughs in scientific research, innovation, and technology transfer.
