Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park aims for the first Net Zero model in Vietnam

On the morning of October 28, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and CMC Corporation to organize the 7th annual international conference with the theme "Strategic technologies promoting sustainable industrial development".

The conference recorded experts' opinions on key technologies to help Vietnam build a low-carbon, sustainable development industry, and promote dual transformation (digital transformation, green transformation).

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ky Phung, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, hoped that the conference would spread the spirit of innovation and creativity; connect intelligence and resources from domestic and foreign partners, thereby turning challenges into opportunities, building the High-Tech Park into a model of sustainable development.

At the conference, speakers discussed and shared strategic technology solutions in the fields of renewable energy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, new materials, green finance, circular economy , etc. These are key pillars to help Vietnam build a low-carbon industry, develop sustainably and integrate globally.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tho emphasized: "The application of digital technology , artificial intelligence, biotechnology and green solutions will promote sustainable industrial development, build renewable energy infrastructure, effectively manage waste and move towards a circular economy."

Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tho requested the Management Board of the High-Tech Park to absorb opinions and initiatives from experts and scientists ; proactively advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to effectively implement the dual transformation project, aiming to build the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park into the first Net Zero model in the country.

Parallel to the conference is an exhibition with 60 booths of businesses, institutes, schools and innovation centers in the fields of education, biotechnology, stem cells, etc.

Also within the framework of the event, the competition "Innovative ideas of universities in the Southeast region" took place with 70 teams from 13 universities.

On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Institute of Life Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) and the Fisheries Research Institute II. The cooperation aims to form a network for research, incubation and commercialization of biotechnology.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuoc, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park plays an important role in the dual transformation orientation. He said that the high-tech park is strongly transforming into a smart industrial park thanks to its focus on digitalization, greening and the application of AI and IoT technology, helping to reduce 20%-30% of energy and production materials; 50% of electricity used is solar energy; about 70% of wastewater is reused, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, noise and dust.
