Mr. Uong Viet Dung, Chief of Office of the Ministry of Transport , said that on the morning of April 29, the North-South Expressway Project, Mai Son - National Highway 45 and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay sections will be officially inaugurated and put into operation. However, the Ministry of Transport has not yet collected tolls on these routes.
Regarding the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway project, the Chief of Office of the Ministry of Transport said that it will be inaugurated and put into use on May 19. After the inauguration, the competent authority has not yet collected tolls on this expressway.
According to the Chief of Office of the Ministry of Transport, the three above-mentioned expressway sections were invested in and built using state budget capital.
To ensure funding for future key transport projects, the government will collect tolls on the above expressways. However, the National Assembly has only given the go-ahead for the government to develop a toll collection plan, and developing the plan and waiting for the National Assembly to approve it will take more time.
Therefore, the three expressway sections Mai Son - National Highway 45 and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet which are about to be put into operation will not collect tolls for vehicles passing through.
Previously, the Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway section of the North - South expressway project in the 2017-2020 period was inaugurated on February 4, 2022, but toll collection has not yet begun after more than a year of operation.
