DTO - In recent years, the movement "Lighting up the countryside" in Dong Thap province has been spreading strongly, receiving the support of many people, businesses and social organizations. Each light lit contributes to changing the appearance of the countryside, bringing convenience in travel, ensuring security and order, and at the same time effectively exploiting clean, environmentally friendly energy sources.

SOCIAL CONSENT

Unlike traditional lighting systems that use national grid electricity, solar powered lamp posts are being prioritized for installation on many rural roads. This not only ensures social welfare but also demonstrates a long-term vision in exploiting and effectively using new energy sources, contributing to energy saving and adapting to climate change. This change has created a positive change in the awareness of the people themselves, who directly contribute to and benefit from the project.

Typically, Mr. Doan Van Mao, residing in Thanh Binh commune (Dong Thap province), voluntarily sponsored the project "Lighting up the countryside road" on the 800m long Lang Tuong - Doc Vang Ha road, with 22 solar-powered lamp posts, with a total cost of nearly 39 million VND. Mr. Mao's noble gesture has contributed to serving the travel needs of people at night, ensuring security, order and creating a more spacious, "bright - green - clean - beautiful" landscape for village roads and alleys.

Recently, the solar light project in Long Khanh commune near the Party Committee - People's Committee headquarters has been put into use, with a total length of 8.3km, with an implementation cost of over 1.1 billion VND. Notably, this project is the result of social mobilization from local officials, party members and people, with a cost of 216 million VND; Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Joint Stock Company sponsored over 820 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, a resident of Long Khanh commune, shared: “There are no street lights in my area, so I volunteered to install 4 solar-powered lamp posts to light up the country roads, helping people to travel and trade more easily.” This is one of many beautiful actions, demonstrating the community spirit of the people.

With the motto “The State and the People work together”, the Youth Union of localities has proactively mobilized the socialization of “Lighting up the countryside roads” projects with solar lights. Billions of VND have been mobilized to construct and complete the projects, contributing to the replication of this meaningful model. The conversion to solar lights not only helps save tens of millions of VND in annual electricity costs compared to the national grid, but also contributes to ensuring local security and order, as bright roads help limit social evils.

Ms. Truong Thi Hien, a resident of Long Khanh Commune, happily shared: “Previously, the road in front of my house had no street lights. Since the solar lights were installed, the road has become brighter, contributing to ensuring traffic safety.”

SUPPORT FROM THE ELECTRICITY INDUSTRY

Dong Thap Electricity Company is one of the pioneers accompanying the community in the work of lighting up the countryside. In recent times, Dong Thap Electricity Company has coordinated with units and local authorities to implement many projects "Lighting up the countryside" in Dong Thap province, with a budget of hundreds of millions of VND. These projects bring both material benefits and great spiritual values, demonstrating the role and responsibility of the Electricity industry in building new rural areas and accompanying the community.

The 2km long lighting route in My Tho commune, sponsored by Dong Thap Electricity Company with a total cost of 120 million VND, is a clear example. The lighting system uses solar energy lamps that are both environmentally friendly and save energy and operating costs. The project not only lights up the roads, but also lights up the belief and hope for a more sustainable future for the countryside.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Deputy Director of Dong Thap Electricity Company shared: “The project “Lighting up the countryside” is the gratitude of the electricity industry to the people, and at the same time demonstrates our commitment to contributing to building Dong Thap homeland to be more and more beautiful and develop sustainably. In the coming time, the company will continue to carry out many activities towards the community, with the desire to bring practical benefits to the people. Applying solar energy is the right direction in the context of increasing electricity prices and energy demand.

The lighting of the country roads not only changes the appearance of the countryside, but also raises the awareness of local people in maintaining environmental hygiene, building a “bright - green - clean - beautiful” landscape. This is also the driving force to build the countryside in Dong Thap to become more civilized and modern.
