Việt NamViệt Nam04/06/2024

At the program, more than 300 delegates, guests and people participating were informed about World Environment Day on June 5, information about the goal of replanting about 10 hectares of forest in Van Ho commune to maintain the landscape, nature as well as the habitat of the endangered white-cheeked gibbon listed in the Red Book, technical instructions and steps when planting trees. Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates and people participated in planting 6,000 trees including Do, Moc, Acacia trees... in the forests of Pa Cop, Hua Tat and Bo Ban Bo Nhang II villages, Van Ho commune.

Mr. Song A Giong, Bo Nhang I village, Van Ho commune, Van Ho district, Son La province: Although the road is very difficult, the youth union members still try very hard to transport the trees to plant. We will take care of the trees and hope that the trees will grow and cover the bare land and hills .

Currently, the whole Van Ho district has more than 56,000 hectares of forestry land, the forest coverage rate reaches 53.9%, of which Van Ho commune has 1,657 hectares including a 1,250-hectare forest strip with high biodiversity. This is the habitat of diverse fauna and flora, with many rare species. With high determination and the response and cooperation of the community, especially in afforestation activities, the work of protecting and developing forests in Van Ho district has achieved many good results, thereby contributing to protecting biodiversity and promoting local socio -economic development.

Mr. Dang Phi Hung - Chairman of Van Ho Commune People's Committee, Van Ho District, Son La: We are very honored to be sponsored by companies and units to have a meaningful forest planting session and we also hope to continue to accompany the units to green up the barren hills and patch up the destroyed forests to make Van Ho's forests greener and more beautiful.

Mr. Trinh Le Nguyen - Director of the Center for People and Nature: I am also setting out the expectation that together with local people, nature reserves, as well as businesses and individuals, we will aim to restore 500 hectares in this area. If we can restore the forest well, we can connect this forest strip with the nature reserve, creating a forest area large enough for wildlife.

“Greening the Forest” is a long-term and annual forest restoration program of the Center for People and Nature to restore 500 hectares of forest on the rocky mountain corridor connecting Mai Chau district of Hoa Binh province and Van Ho district of Son La province, launched in 2022. This is the third time the large-scale forest planting event has been jointly organized by the parties in Van Ho district. The program is implemented with the support of philanthropists through the GivingLunch Campaign (Lunch Auction for Social Purposes) on the MoMo platform and the companionship of Termo Vietnam, TH Group, Tupperware Vietnam, and Nha Ben Rung Ulesa enterprises. /.
