Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thi Thuy Mai said that Da Nang city identified green transformation and sustainable development as the main trend in the coming time of the business community.

From the current export activities of industrial production enterprises in the city, there is a requirement for greening in production, grasping the green shift trend in the world and Vietnam, in order to have a green transition roadmap suitable for enterprises.

Citing data and the decline in export activities of enterprises in the city in the first 9 months of 2023, Director of the City Statistics Office Tran Van Vu noted that importing countries tend to set conditions for sustainable production, that is, green production, environmentally friendly...

In recent times, the textile, footwear, and seafood industries have been short of 30-45% of orders, partly due to the lack of green transformation in production.

Businesses are only interested in quantity, not really interested in quality and improving product quality. Many businesses are slow to innovate in management, slow to innovate technology...

To resolve these difficulties, ministries, branches and localities need to pay attention to clearing up obstacles regarding conditions for accessing preferential loans for businesses to transform into green development, innovate technology...

At the same time, pay attention to building human resources, considering this an unlimited source of raw materials for the city to develop sustainably because the city has no fossil fuels, no natural materials...

A representative of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) informed that recently, the industry and trade sector has deployed support and promoted the application of solutions to achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 and green transformation, towards sustainable development in production and business activities of enterprises.

Accordingly, 3 groups of solutions include: applying solutions on management, technology, equipment, techniques for economical and efficient use of energy; exploiting and using new energy sources, renewable energy, clean energy; applying comprehensive solutions on management, exploitation, economical and efficient use of resources, raw materials, and input fuels of production activities, minimizing waste to the environment and making the most of opportunities to apply circular economic models, sharing economy...

However, to achieve the goal of net zero emissions, in addition to the three specific technical solutions mentioned above, the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 clearly stipulates the role and responsibility of the business community to participate in reducing greenhouse gas emissions according to the roadmap.

These include regulations on greenhouse gas emissions inventory that must be implemented from 2023; developing plans and self-implementing measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2025; and implementing greenhouse gas emission quotas allocated from 2026 onwards.

Along with that, the mechanism to support the implementation of emission reduction obligations through carbon credit trading floors, carbon credit offset mechanisms... will be applied on a trial basis from 2025. These are market mechanisms that will be deployed to support businesses in achieving their emission reduction and green transformation goals, towards sustainable production.

Through the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the 2019-2030 period and the National Action Program on Sustainable Production and Consumption for the 2021-2030 period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to accompany and support localities, including Da Nang city and the business community, with solutions for an effective and successful green transformation.

The workshop also introduced a number of solutions for green transformation in industry such as the ESCO model (zero-cost solar power project and providing iREC certificates (international renewable energy certificates) for factories; new generation photovoltaic technology Ntype Topcon (solar cell manufacturing technology with better light absorption efficiency)...
