This is an activity towards International Children's Day June 1, maintained by the volunteer group of the Vietnam Women Journalists Club for many years with the desire to bring joy and build confidence for students here.

The delegation awarded 12 special gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to 12 students with especially difficult circumstances; 53 gifts (each worth 200,000 VND) to the remaining 53 students, along with household items, toys...

In addition, the delegation also gave a spiritual gift of a circus program including animal circus, clowns, and magic performed by actors of the Vietnam Circus Federation.

"Throughout the day, we saw bright, surprised, and excited eyes, but there were absolutely no cheers. But we felt the joy and happiness from the students. The group's gift, although small, brought joy and created an unforgettable impression on the meaningful International Children's Day for the children," said Ms. NTH, a member of the Women's Journalists Club.

The Hanoi Private Secondary School for Deaf and Mute Children has turned 35 years old. When it was first established, the school was just a small house with 2 classrooms with 12 students and 7 staff and teachers teaching children with hearing impairment, autism, mental retardation, and Down syndrome. Now the school has its own campus with a total area of 560m2 with 10 cultural classrooms, 2 vocational training rooms, 4 speech therapy rooms, physical education rooms...

Most of the students are children of poor families in Hanoi and neighboring provinces: Hoa Binh , Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Lang Son... Currently, the school has 65 students (16 of whom are boarding students), many of whose parents are manual laborers, renting houses near the school for convenience in picking up and dropping off their children. Of these, 14 students are in particularly difficult circumstances: poor or near-poor households, families with 2 disabled children, some with 2-3 illnesses.

The teaching staff here, in addition to being formally trained in pedagogy, also have to learn sign language. Due to limited finances, teachers and staff here, in addition to their main duties, have to take on other jobs such as: medical , extracurricular activities, team work, library, computer teaching...
