Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club first training session in Wuhan

On the afternoon of May 18, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club had its first training session in Wuhan (China) to prepare for the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Women's Semi-Final match against the home team Wuhan Jiangda on May 21.

Two players who just played for the Vietnamese futsal team in the 2025 Asian Futsal Championship finals in China, Tran Thi Thuy Trang and K'Thua, were also present at this training session, after flying from Inner Mongolia to Wuhan.

"Let Thuy Trang and K'Thua practice separately to get used to the field again. They've been playing futsal for a while now, I don't know if they can play," the HCMC female players joked as they welcomed their two teammates back to the team.

In the heat of the afternoon in Wuhan, "Vietnam Golden Ball 2024" Thuy Trang still appeared quite energetic on the training ground. The 37-year-old female player also took the opportunity to practice more while her teammates practiced finishing at the end of the training session.

Thuy Trang explained: "The intensity of futsal is not as high as on the grass field, and I don't play much. So when I returned to the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, I had to practice more to regain my ball feeling."

Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club took advantage of the full 90 minutes of training on Jianghan University's auxiliary training field.

Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi had her players practice low-touch coordination and attack for most of the training session before ending with a shooting exercise from outside the 16.5m box and from the 11m mark.

This is an exercise to help students "adjust their aim" accurately and get used to the official ball of the tournament again.

Because after defeating Abu Dhabi (UAE) 5-4 in the quarter-finals of the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League for women in March, the Ho Chi Minh City women's players played against Dong Luc in the 2025 National Cup recently.

The atmosphere of the training session was positive but also filled with laughter, especially during the shooting practice. The players teased each other when they successfully shot or when their teammates missed.

It can be seen that the confidence of coach Doan Thi Kim Chi and her team is very high before entering the semi-final match with Wuhan Jiangda Club.
