(HG) - The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in recent years, many households in the province have converted rice fields and mixed garden land to fruit trees, which has brought significant results, helping to increase family income. Up to now, the total area of fruit trees in the province is estimated at over 45,131 hectares, an increase of 3,444 hectares compared to the end of 2020, of which the fastest growing is jackfruit. Up to now, the jackfruit growing area is 9,774 hectares, in districts such as Chau Thanh, Chau Thanh A, Phung Hiep, Nga Bay city... The harvested jackfruit area is 6,657 hectares, with an estimated yield of 15-23 tons/ha.
Building a "growing area code" is one of the key steps contributing to improving the quality and value of agricultural products.
Many fruit growing areas in the province have been certified to meet GlobalGAP standards. Currently, there are 126 growing areas in the province that have been granted codes (including 117 maintained codes and 9 new codes in 2024) and 9 packaging codes/8 facilities (including 1 new facility). Granting growing area codes not only helps trace the origin but also closely links production to a certain process to meet the requirements of importing countries, helping agricultural products go further.
