Not only talented, People's Artist Linh Nham is also loved by generations of actors of the Provincial Traditional Arts Theater for her morality and pure personality.

Fell in love with Bai Choi at the age of 14

At the end of 1971, the Inter-zone 5 Drama Troupe went to Thanh Hoa province to recruit actors and musicians for the folk song class of zone 5B to prepare for service on the southern battlefield. The girl Le Thi Nham (real name of People's Artist Linh Nham) was only 14 years old at that time, so she boldly went to the audition and was immediately selected. "At that time, I knew almost nothing about bai choi and southern folk songs. I went to the audition because I liked the military uniforms and wanted to wear those costumes. When I went to Hanoi to study, I received the dedicated attention and instruction of teachers who were great artists such as Thai Son, Nguyen Kiem, Le Thi... so I quickly grasped the singing and acting style of the bai choi folk song and drama stage", People's Artist Linh Nham shared.

Leaving her family to go to Hanoi to study folk theater and Bai Choi drama at a young age with many challenges and difficulties, but day by day, from the beginning of 1972 to mid-1974, People's Artist Linh Nham and her classmates diligently practiced and studied at the Inter-Zone 5 Drama Troupe. Along with that were performances for audiences in localities near Hanoi. In July 1974, People's Artist Linh Nham volunteered to go to the Southern battlefield to perform for the people and soldiers. The destination for her and other members of the class was the Central - Central Liberation Drama Troupe under the Propaganda Department of Zone 5 in the mountainous region of Quang Nam province. In less than a year, she participated in more than 60 performances to serve the soldiers and people in 9 provinces of the Central - Central Highlands. There were many nights of performances, the stage was built right in the area bordering the enemy; There were nights when the enemy artillery attacked right near the stage during the performance... Performances like that further motivated People's Artist Linh Nham and other artists to have more will and determination to stick to the art of Bài Chòi and serve the audience better.

Outstanding talent

Right after the country's reunification, People's Artist Linh Nham and his fellow artists at the Central - Central Liberation Drama Troupe were given 5 articles by the Regional Party Committee's Propaganda Department on building an artistic movement in Phu Khanh province. Therefore, it can be seen that People's Artist Linh Nham is one of the first people to contribute to building the foundation for the folk song and drama stage of Khanh Hoa . From the first days at the Phu Khanh Folk Song and Drama Troupe, then the Khanh Hoa Folk Song and Drama Troupe, to the Provincial Traditional Arts Theater, People's Artist Linh Nham has experienced ups and downs in her career. Coming to the folk song and drama stage very early, but People's Artist Linh Nham is considered by those in the profession to be a late bloomer. That lateness is not due to talent but mostly due to fate. Because at the same time as People's Artist Linh Nham, in the Folk Opera Troupe there were other talented and beautiful actresses such as: People's Artist Thanh Binh, Meritorious Artist Hanh Nguyen... Another factor is that People's Artist Linh Nham's acting style is often suitable for the roles of mothers and old people with tragic circumstances, so when staging plays, directors often assign such roles to People's Artist Linh Nham.

However, with a serious working spirit and dedication to each assigned role, People's Artist Linh Nham still left an impression on the audience through roles such as: Mother (in the play Thoai Khanh - Chau Tuan ), Mrs. Nhan (play Mother's Pain ), My Tam (play Tears of a Young Mother ), Ngoc Han (play Bac Binh Vuong Trial) ... In 2001, with her achievements and contributions to the folk theater of Bai Choi, she was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. And in the 10th Meritorious Artist and People's Artist award ceremony in 2023, she was awarded the title of People's Artist. These are worthy recognitions for the tireless and professional artistic work of People's Artist Linh Nham for more than 40 years. After retiring according to the regime, People's Artist Linh Nham still enthusiastically passed on her profession to the next generation of artists and actors of the Provincial Traditional Arts Theater; participating in artistic activities at clubs under the Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center; introducing the art of Bài Chòi at schools... Only in recent years, due to family circumstances, People's Artist Linh Nham had to temporarily stop participating in artistic activities.
