In June 2025, Nguyen Thi Kieu Quy was awarded a full scholarship under the Agreement to study in Hungary for a master's degree. She is studying the Instruction of English as a Foreign Language program at Eötvös Loránd University.

" Education comes from compassion"
During her first two years studying at Hanoi National University of Education, majoring in English Pedagogy, Kieu Quy considered herself an “average” student, without many outstanding academic achievements and not often participating in extracurricular activities. Her modesty in results and experiences made her feel insecure about her abilities, especially when compared to her active and successful classmates in the same environment.
During the time of online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kieu Quy realized that she needed to change to develop more comprehensively. When the pandemic was under control, she signed up to volunteer at Hanoi Free Private Tour Guide. This experience became an important turning point, helping her broaden her perspective, improve her communication skills and gradually change her perception of herself through the process of contacting and exchanging with international friends.
From her first experiences participating in volunteer activities, Kieu Quy began to cherish the desire to broaden her knowledge and "step out into the world". To realize that goal, she proactively registered to participate in many short-term international exchange programs. However, this journey was not easy as she failed in 14 consecutive programs before achieving the expected opportunity.
Luck smiled on Kieu Quy when she became one of six volunteers selected to participate in the Global Classroom project, under the Global Volunteer program of AIESEC in Vietnam (a branch of AIESEC - an international non-governmental youth organization). This is an educational project aimed at teaching and supporting learning for children in rural areas of Nepal for 6 weeks.
In Nepal, Kieu Quy taught Math and English to students from grades 2 to 10. Her experience in a teaching environment with many shortages of facilities and contact with young, eager-to-learn students helped her change her perspective on the teaching profession, while also accumulating more practical experience and consolidating her professional knowledge.
"Education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also about understanding, compassion and tolerance," Kieu Quy shared.

After her trip to Nepal, Kieu Quy continued to Jakarta (Indonesia) to participate in the 4-day ASEAN Youth Exchange 2024 program, where she and other young delegates in the region shared, learned and spread the spirit of cooperation among Southeast Asian countries.
Eight months of hard work and winning four scholarships at the same time
After completing the short-term exchange program, Kieu Quy wanted to continue studying in an international environment and was determined to study abroad for a master's degree.
During the period from August 2024 to June 2025, Kieu Quy focused on preparing a complete application with transcripts, CV, foreign language certificates, motivation letters, recommendation letters, and evidence of achievements and awards. At the same time, she practiced interview skills and completed the necessary requirements to apply for international scholarships.
Kieu Quy said that the factor that makes a profile stand out is clearly showing her long-term goals as well as her desires and development orientation throughout her studies. However, she also admitted that she was worried that her profile would have difficulty competing with other candidates when applying because she did not participate in many activities during her first two years of university.
In June 2025, Kieu Quy received good news when she was awarded 4 international Master's scholarships at the same time, including 3 full scholarships at National Chung Cheng University and National Taipei University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, the Hungarian Agreement scholarship at Eötvös Loránd University, and the MUMA Scholarship from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium).
Kieu Quy decided to study at Eötvös Loránd University because the training program is suitable for her major and long-term development orientation in the future.
