Unable to hold back her tears while sharing about her daughter's current health situation, Ms. Ho Thi Hoa (born in 1978), Lan Phuong's mother, said: "In October 2024, her body started to develop many red rashes on her face, she had a continuous fever accompanied by symptoms of fatigue, hair loss..."
After examination, doctors concluded that the child had systemic lupus erythematosus with visceral damage. Upon hospitalization and further blood tests, doctors announced that the child was also infected with multiple parasites, affecting the liver, eyes, and other parts of the body.
Despite the family's efforts to borrow money from various sources to take the child for treatment at provincial and central hospitals, as well as specialized hospitals for tropical and parasitic diseases, in search of the most effective treatment method, no suitable treatment protocol has yet been found.
"Currently, the child is receiving treatment at Hue Central Hospital because the disease shows no signs of improvement. The sores on the child's body are numerous, and the eyesight is deteriorating, making all daily activities difficult..."
Mr. Nguyen Thin and Mrs. Ho Thi Hoa have four children, and Phuong is the second daughter. The family is classified as near-poor, but their children are always well-behaved and academically successful, with Lan Phuong achieving the title of excellent student for nine consecutive years.
“Our family’s income depends on three plots of rice paddies and a small amount of vegetables, fruits, chickens, and ducks raised in our garden. During the off-season, my husband works as an assistant laborer on nearby construction sites to earn extra money for the family. Life has become even more difficult as the amount of money borrowed to pay for our child’s treatment keeps increasing, and his condition shows no signs of improvement. I just hope for a miracle so that my child can recover quickly and return to a normal life…,” Ms. Hoa shared.
Given Phuong's family's difficult circumstances, the school organized a fundraising campaign and appealed to benevolent individuals and organizations to help her with additional funds for her treatment. In the future, we hope for continued support from the community so that Phuong can overcome her illness and return to school to study and train.
