The plane connects the past to the present
This special aircraft is not only a precious artifact with special historical value, but also evokes heroic memories of the journey of fighting for independence and building the Fatherland.
Among the five aircraft provided by the Soviet Union to Vietnam in 1957, the one with the serial number VN-C482 holds special significance. This was the aircraft that carried President Ho Chi Minh and other Party and State leaders during the years of resistance against the US.
Not only is it a light transport vehicle with a wingspan of 31.7m, a maximum speed of 415km/h and a capacity of more than 30 people, the VN-C482 is also a symbol of Vietnam-Soviet friendship and of flights associated with national historical milestones.
The notable point of the IL-14 is that it is not equipped with radar or modern landing aids, and its control depends entirely on the pilot's skill and courage. It is in such difficult conditions that the outstanding ability and bravery of the IL-14 Flight Team of the 919th Regiment are further affirmed.
After the country's reunification, the 919th Flight continued to operate the IL-14 for national reconstruction and defense missions, until the squadron completed its mission in 1981.
Today, the aircraft with registration number VN-C482 has become a living testament to a heroic time, a symbol of the will for independence, self-reliance and self-reliance of the Vietnamese aviation industry.
The aircraft has now been transported to the Sky Aspiration display area at the National Achievement Exhibition. The transport of the aircraft was carried out from 10pm on August 13 to 0am on August 14, covering a distance of 6.5km, from the Vietnam Aviation Museum to the Vietnam Exhibition Center.
The technical team is continuing to install, clean and complete the display items, ready to serve visitors on the occasion of the country's important celebration of the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy General Director of AESC Aviation Technical Services Joint Stock Company, said that IL-14 is also a symbol of the early years of the Vietnamese aviation industry. Since the early days of development, Vietnam has now mastered the technology of aircraft exploitation, maintenance and repair.
Although it is an artifact displayed at the Aviation Museum, Mr. Le Chuong (born in 1944) still considers the IL-14 a living "treasure" and to this day still regularly performs periodic maintenance.
And from the present to the future…
In addition to the opportunity to see the plane that once carried President Ho Chi Minh, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam added that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has gathered units in the industry to bring to the exhibition displays with the theme of Sky Aspiration . The exhibition area is divided into 3 parts, corresponding to 3 periods: past, present and future.
The past is represented by the IL-14 aircraft. The present is the development achievements of the Vietnamese aviation industry. The future is the aircraft produced by Vietnam itself, sold to a number of countries and will be brought to the exhibition area in the coming days.
In addition to the IL-14, the Aviation Industry also brought an A320 aircraft from the AESC Training Center. This is the aircraft used for training purposes.
“Especially at the exhibition, the public also has the opportunity to experience the service of buying airline tickets, serving in the waiting room and trying to sit on the A320 aircraft.
In addition, we will perform 3D mapping projections on the A320 fuselage, helping the public have the best experience when coming to the Aviation exhibition space," Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam shared.
The public coming to the Aspiration for the Sky space can also experience the cockpit. This is a very rare opportunity because the cockpit is not a place for passengers and passengers are almost "unknown".
In particular, at the A320 aircraft display area, the public has the opportunity to directly experience escape skills with the professional team of Vietnam Airlines.
An indispensable highlight in this space is the presence of two Tocano-R aircraft manufactured in Vietnam. This type of aircraft has conquered many demanding markets and is sold to many countries.
Bringing artifacts such as aircrafts with symbols of the past, present and future to display at the Exhibition not only has the meaning of introducing the achievements of the industry, but also contributes to vividly recreating the development path and the aspiration to reach high and far of Vietnam Aviation, conquering the dreams ahead, true to the name of Sky Aspiration .
