Together, they used art to tell the story of 100 glorious Revolutionary Press, affirming the important position, role, and great contributions of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in the cause of national liberation struggle, building and defending the Fatherland.
Among them, the vọng cổ song “Proud of the Journalism Profession” (author Ly Bong Dua) through the duet of People’s Artist Hoa Phuong and Golden Bell vọng cổ artist Bui Trung Dang has become a cool breeze to the souls of journalists. We had the opportunity to meet the author as well as the two artists to listen to their feelings when participating in this beautiful event.
Author Ly Bong Dua: Composed with all gratitude and pride
Author Ly Bong Dua believes that the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day is a major milestone. Therefore, as an author, after being assigned the task of composing a vọng cổ song, contributing lyrics to the art program brought her a sense of emotion. Author Ly Bong Dua
The song “Proud of Journalism” was composed by the author in about 2 days with all his pride, after spending time learning about the history of the formation and development of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in general as well as the press flow in his home province. What brought Ly Bong Dua the most excitement was the information and stories about Journalist – Martyr Nguyen Mai, his dedication to writing with all his passionate patriotism, his works written with blood and his brave fighting and heroic sacrifice. Besides, when encountering images of journalistic documents, the pages of newspapers that have been stained with time, encapsulating the baggage of life, of the profession and of the national spirit.
“Perhaps with the nature of a short vọng cổ song, the simple words cannot fully convey the pride and honor for journalism. On the other hand, my own understanding is not very deep. However, with all my gratitude, I tried my best to compose the work, as a gift to congratulate this special event,” she confided.
She added: “Revolutionary journalists are the bridge of the Party and at the same time speak for the people. All agencies, departments, and fields always need the voice of journalists. The voice of journalists is the voice of truth, speaking the truth, and this spread has a strong impact on the masses. The vọng cổ song is like a gratitude for the glorious past, and also blends into the sentiments of many generations, especially young journalists of today, when thinking about the profession. Today's journalist force will be ready to continue the glorious path of their ancestors and do the job with a pure heart, uphold the truth, and create trust among the masses. That is also the pride inherent in a profession that is inherently very sacred - that is journalism."
People's Artist Hoa Phuong: The song is sung to express gratitude to the journalism profession.
People's Artist Hoa Phuong sends her deep thanks to the press for their great attention to artists.
People's Artist Hoa Phuong could not hide her excitement when participating in this art program. For her, this is an opportunity not only for journalists but also for the public to look back on the 100-year journey of revolutionary journalism - a long journey full of ups and downs but also very glorious. And certainly, as an artist, standing on stage to perform an old song about journalism is a great happiness.
That's why when holding the new work in her hands, she spent time researching the words, investing a lot of emotion so that when singing a duet with "the actor" Bui Trung Dang, it would be in harmony, both soft and lyrical, while fully expressing the meaning and message that the author wanted to convey.
In this vọng cổ song, People's Artist Hoa Phuong is most fond of lines like: "Dear, we love our profession because we love our homeland/ So we love every trip, every road we take/ Journalism - giving life justice/ We are like the silent gatekeepers who separate the good and the bad" or " We are journalists in times of peace when guns are silent, the duty on our shoulders is also heavy...".
With more than 30 years of tireless artistic activities, People's Artist Hoa Phuong considers herself a rather reserved person, not very talkative, so when the press contacts her for an interview, she feels very shy. But every time she has the opportunity to interact with the press, through her simple sharing and confidences, she sees that art and journalism are two fields that have a very beautiful connection in carrying out the mission of propaganda and serving the public.
“On this occasion, Hoa Phuong would like to express her deep gratitude to the press for their great attention to artists in general and herself in particular. Throughout her career, the press has witnessed, accompanied, supported and helped Hoa Phuong's name to become closer to audiences near and far. Maybe in the future, when listening to the vọng cổ song “Proud of the Journalism Profession” again, I will definitely find some parts that I am not really satisfied with, but at this time, what I send to the audience is with all my true emotions and full efforts for this vọng cổ song about journalism”, People's Artist Hoa Phuong confided.
Artist Bui Trung Dang: Being able to contribute my voice to such a beautiful event is a joy!
Artist Bui Trung Dang expressed: " Through journalistic works, Bui Trung Dang's name can become closer to the audience."
The land of Ca Mau is a beautiful memory of Artist Bui Trung Dang. In 2010, when he won the first prize in the Golden Bell of Traditional Opera competition organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television, in the following years he had many opportunities to return to Ca Mau to participate in stage performances at events and film for Ca Mau Radio and Television Station. Destinations such as Dat Mui, Hon Da Bac... through Cai Nuoc, Dam Doi... everywhere are memories. Therefore, returning to the land at the end of the sky this time, for him it is a great happiness and honor.
In the art program, the singer of Golden Bell and People's Artist Hoa Phuong together told the story of journalism with all pride.
Artist Bui Trung Dang confided that the author was skillful in selecting words so that every part of the vọng cổ song had meaning. Through that, he understood more about the hardships and sacrifices of his ancestors when working for the revolutionary newspaper. Through the storms of bullets and bombs, generations of pens were always sharpened; the newspaper pages crossed forests and rivers, bringing valuable information and articles that brought the revolutionary flame to soldiers and the masses, contributing to the victory of the two wars to defend the country. From praising the indomitable spirit and bravery of the previous generation to the next generations of journalists and especially the role of the press in today's new era, it has become a beautiful thread.
Among them, his favorite sentence is: "My dear, in the midst of a busy life, there are good and bad people. The responsibility of journalism is to find the truth. Our battlefield is in every line of news. Despite hardship, we are determined to protect our beliefs."
“The fields of art and journalism always go hand in hand and support each other. Artists and singers in general have to rely on journalists. Typically, in the Golden Bell of Traditional Music contest, it was through the attentive pens that audiences near and far knew the contestants and Bui Trung Dang. I could not have achieved what I have today without journalists. Through journalistic works, Bui Trung Dang's name can be close to the audience. On this occasion, Bui Trung Dang would like to wish all journalists good health, peace, and continue to have a pure heart and bright pen to bring good works to the world, providing useful news for society; and do not forget to wish the people of Ca Mau prosperity in business, all the best...”, he confided./.
