Go and write with your heart...
“People who work at the grassroots level like me are often not noticed, but there is a lot of work, wherever I go I have to be quick and close to reality,” Mr. Tran The started sharing about his career. In more than 12 years of working in the profession, he has overcome countless difficulties and obstacles to approach and reflect the most authentic life of the people.
Although the means of work are limited and the conditions for traveling to many places are difficult, it does not make him afraid. Because more than anyone else, he understands that the people at the grassroots level need sympathy, want their voices to be heard and shared to the right place, the right people.
“People trust me with the most real things in life. I convey them to the Party committees and authorities, and then bring policies back to the people. When the articles help adjust policies to suit the people, I find journalism to be a very happy profession,” he said with satisfaction.
In addition, he especially focuses on writing about unfortunate lives, with the desire to be a bridge to bring love to those in need. “Sometimes it’s just a small article, but if I can help them with a meal, a dose of medicine, a bicycle to school... I feel happy,” Mr. The confided.
Chau Tan Phat, a boy who lost his mother at the age of 2 months, then his father due to the Covid-19 pandemic when he was not yet 2 years old. After a series of lonely days in a foreign land, his uncle brought him to Khanh Thuan commune (U Minh district) to raise him, but because he had not yet completed the paperwork, he was not entitled to orphan benefits.
“When I heard about the story, I wrote the article “Hopefully the heart will take care of the orphan” published in Ca Mau Online newspaper on August 24, 2023. After that, many benefactors helped him with money, school supplies, bicycles, and especially completed the paperwork so that he could receive support. That was the moment I felt most clearly the power of humanistic journalism,” he recalled emotionally.
When asked what is the most valuable thing that journalism “gives back” after so many years of dedication, Mr. The mused: “It is sincerity. A sincere journalist will receive sincerity in return from the people he has helped.”
It was from the smiles and words of thanks after the article that the children who thought they would have to drop out of school were able to continue going to school. All of this became the motivation for him to keep burning with the passion of his profession, amidst the many changes in journalism today.
...And not just writing articles
“Blood can wait for the patient, but the patient cannot wait for blood,” said a patient at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, something that Tran The could never forget. Therefore, in addition to his role as a journalist, he is also a person who silently gives life. He has donated blood 33 times and has registered to donate organs at Cho Ray Hospital ( Ho Chi Minh City).
That spirit of sharing originated from a heartbreaking experience during his freshman year, when his cousin had an accident and lost too much blood but there was no blood reserve to transfuse in time. “I still remember very clearly the feeling of helplessness at that time. After that time, I participated in the Youth Union work, and was informed about the meaning of blood donation. Since then, I have not missed any blood donation events in the locality,” he said sadly.
Up to now, he has donated blood 34 times, the most recent time was on June 14, when he participated in the "Red Journey" at Binh Duong University Branch in Ca Mau.
In 2023, Mr. The was honored to be one of the 100 outstanding blood donors nationwide, and had the opportunity to visit the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. Only then did he understand that a unit of whole blood can be separated into many different products to save many people. Each drop of blood he donates can bring life to not just one but many others.
"I believe that living sincerely will receive sincerity in return," he confided./.
