According to the reporter's records, by 3:00 p.m. this afternoon (June 17), on streets such as Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Nguyen Cong Tru, and Nguyen Tat Thanh, the situation of garbage congestion was serious, overflowing trash bins and spilling onto the streets, causing loss of aesthetics and environmental pollution.
Ms. Le Ngoc Diep, Hamlet 2, Ward 8, Ca Mau City, said that for the past 3 days, the garbage collection trucks have not come, so all the household garbage has piled up, giving off a strong stench. Especially, in some densely populated areas and boarding houses, the large amount of garbage creates an even more offensive and unsanitary scene."
Notably, in many areas with few residents, "ownerless" garbage dumps suddenly appeared, forcing families living nearby to close their doors to avoid the stench as well as flies, mosquitoes, and insects from the "garbage dump" flying into their homes.
Ms. Tran Anh Mai in Hamlet 7, Ward 8, Ca Mau City, said: “For the past 2 days, a large garbage dump has appeared in front of my house, with countless types of garbage from vegetables to meat and fish, giving off a strong smell. My family is currently very worried, because there are elderly people and children.”
Information from Ca Mau Urban Environment Joint Stock Company: from June 15 until the factory closed at 0:00 on June 16, the unit transported about 65 tons of garbage to the factory, currently there is about 70 tons of garbage left in the inner city. Currently, the company has also stopped collecting because there is no place to receive it.
