Praising President Ho Chi Minh is the only song that musician Van Cao wrote about President Ho Chi Minh . Musician Van Cao introduced the song on the occasion of Uncle Ho's birthday, in 1949. Immediately after that, the song received love and became one of the best songs written about Uncle Ho.

According to Mr. Van Thao, to better understand President Ho, musician Van Cao traveled to many places in the Viet Bac resistance zone, met many people, and talked to soldiers to feel the affection that everyone had for Uncle Ho.

Wherever he went, people loved and trusted Uncle Ho, considering him as the father of the nation.

It was that sacred and respectful sentiment that urged the musician to quickly complete the song "Praise to President Ho" .

The melody and opening lyrics of the song were inspired by the image of Uncle Ho reading the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945. At that time, Van Cao stood right below the stage as a member of the Viet Minh along with tens of thousands of compatriots looking up to the stage to listen to Uncle Ho's voice.

"You came back and brought a happy day/ The sunny autumn on Ba Dinh grass/ With your voice still gentle like the voice of heaven and earth/ You came back and brought spring to life from the barren land/ From the mud, the whole life rose up".
