According to the Criminal Police Department, this is a huge source of data that can be exploited by bad guys to carry out more sophisticated fraud tricks.

According to analysis by the authorities, in the coming time, people may face fraud through the following forms:

- Impersonating banks, CIC, and government agencies to call, text, and email with full name, ID number, account number, etc. to notify of "bad debt" and "verify information", thereby luring gullible people into providing passwords and OTPs.

- Fake debt clearing service, card limit increase: aimed at students and workers who need to borrow money quickly, low interest rates.

- Impersonating relatives or leaders: using detailed personal information to create trust and request urgent money transfers.

- Calling to threaten the law: claiming to be from the police, prosecutor's office, court, threatening to "be involved in a money laundering case", forcing people to transfer money to a "safe account".

- Spam SMS, Zalo, email containing malicious links: tricking users into clicking on fake links to steal more data.

For students: enticed by invitations to borrow money to study, part-time jobs. For workers and civil servants, they will receive warnings of bad debts, fake credit information. As for older people, less tech-savvy, they are more likely to believe fake calls from banks, police, or mistakenly click on strange links.

The Criminal Police Department recommends that people absolutely do not provide passwords or OTPs to anyone via phone, text message, or email.

Do not click on strange links and only log in to the bank's official application and website. Verify information via hotline or go directly to the bank or authorities. Do not transfer "verification" money to an unknown account.

Students and workers should absolutely not believe advertisements for "CIC debt cancellation" or "fast loans with 0% interest".

Families with elderly people should remind and instruct their relatives how to recognize fraudulent calls and messages.

The Criminal Police Department believes that after the largest data leak ever, cyber criminals will become more sophisticated because they have real information of the victims. Every citizen needs to be vigilant and proactively update warnings from the police, banks and mainstream media.
