Announcement of socio-economic statistics for 2023

(VLO) The Provincial Statistics Office has just held a press conference to announce socio -economic statistics for 2023 (photo).

Announcing the basic issues on the socio-economic situation of Vinh Long province in 2023, Mr. Ha Van Ban - Director of the General Statistics Office said: The estimated gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2023 (at 2010 comparative prices) increased by 2.01% compared to 2022; in which, sector I (agriculture, forestry and fishery) increased by 3.08%, sector III (service industries) increased by 5.09%, and sector II (industry and construction) decreased by 6.96% (of which, industry decreased by 9.7%), reducing the overall growth rate by 1.27 percentage points.

The province's economic structure will shift slowly in 2023. Total export turnover will reach 760 million USD, reaching 101.3% of the plan and increasing by 3.81% over the previous year.

Total import value reached 355 million USD, up 13.11% over the previous year. Meanwhile, the average consumer price index (CPI) in 2023 increased by 1.62%, 1.18 percentage points lower than the corresponding figure in 2022. The average CPI in 2023 of 26/32 groups of goods and services increased compared to the previous year, affecting the overall CPI increase.

Statistics also show that the average population of the province in 2023 is estimated at 1,029,630 people, an increase of 0.08% compared to 2022. The labor force aged 15 and over is estimated at 587,805 people, an increase of 0.83% compared to 2022.

Creating new jobs for 26,033 workers, reaching 130.2% of the plan, of which sending workers to work abroad for a limited period of time was 1,706 workers, reaching 100.3% of the annual plan and increasing by 19.64% compared to 2022. The adjustment of wage policy according to Decree No. 24/2023/ND-CP has had positive impacts on the income and life of workers.
