The campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is gradually reaching its destination.

Implementing the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, with the spirit of "those who have merit help those who have merit, those who have property help those who have property, those who have a lot help a lot, those who have little help a little", Binh Duong province is speeding up the implementation of the program, with the goal of basically eliminating all temporary and dilapidated houses by the end of June 2025, 4 months ahead of the required timeline.

Recently, localities in Binh Duong province have actively implemented the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for people.

"Lightning speed" to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses

The elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses is a major policy, demonstrating social responsibility and profound humanity. With the goal of completing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for people in difficult circumstances by the end of June 2025, the entire political system and the people of Binh Duong are making efforts and determined to implement solutions to complete the set progress.

Thanks to the close direction of the Central Steering Committee, ministries, branches, and the consensus of local authorities and people, the program has achieved many positive results. As of May 9, Binh Duong province has started construction and repair of 335/470 houses, reaching 71% of the plan. The total implementation cost is more than 20.6 billion VND. Of which, the group of meritorious people has been supported with 31/34 houses, reaching 91.1%, with a total cost of 2.2 billion VND. The group of poor, near-poor, and extremely disadvantaged households has been supported with 305/436 houses, reaching 70%, with a total cost of more than 19.7 billion VND. Binh Duong's goal is to complete before June 30, 2025. Regarding mobilization costs, as of May 5, the provincial level has mobilized more than 30.8 billion VND.

At the 4th meeting of the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide held on the morning of May 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that each house is "a gift", "a love", "a meaningful home", demonstrating the responsibility, love, comradeship, compatriotism, sense of responsibility, and sharing of the whole community; demonstrating the trust and excitement of the people, especially the poor and disadvantaged. The determination is to basically complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide before October 31, 2025.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the tasks from now until October 31, 2025 are still very heavy. Therefore, all levels, sectors and localities need to make greater efforts, greater determination, and more drastic, effective and focused actions to successfully achieve the program's goals.

In parallel, in the work of supporting the two provinces of Bac Lieu and Nghe An, Binh Duong has so far completed the transfer of 34 billion VND in support funds to Bac Lieu province. For Nghe An province, the province has transferred 44.735 billion VND/56 billion VND in support.

Identifying the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses as an important political task, Binh Duong leaders therefore urged localities and relevant sectors to focus on implementing solutions with a spirit of effort, high determination and drastic action.

For those without land or house, the Steering Committee at district and city levels will consider each specific case and proactively provide support in a socialized manner. The good news is that during the implementation process, some localities have achieved outstanding results with good practices. Specifically, Tan Uyen City, in addition to supporting the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses according to the plan, also mobilized socialized land purchase to build houses, and supported social housing for 9/12 households without land or house in the area. Meanwhile, Di An City has started construction of 16/16 houses, completing 100% of the plan before April 30, 2025.

The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has helped hundreds of people in difficult circumstances, poor households, and policy households in the province to live in more spacious and solid houses.

Effort to reach the finish line

With determination in direction, "lightning speed" in implementation, demonstrating the responsibility of the entire political system and social community, in just a short time, hundreds of houses have been started and handed over to poor households and households in difficult circumstances in the province.

After a period of implementation, the dream of “settling down” for the poor and those with difficult housing circumstances has come true. The houses are not only a new place to live, but also the beginning of a brighter future for the households.

Last April, the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Be, a meritorious person in Chanh Hung hamlet (Hieu Liem commune, Bac Tan Uyen district), happily inaugurated a new house after many years of living in a dilapidated house. Previously, after learning about Mr. Be's situation, the People's Committee of Bac Tan Uyen district coordinated with Hieu Liem commune to support the renovation of the house for his family with a total value of 120 million VND. Of which, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses of Bac Tan Uyen district supported 50 million VND, and the People's Committee of Hieu Liem commune mobilized 70 million VND from social sources.

On the day he received the new house, Mr. Be was moved: “After many years of waiting, my family has now renovated a spacious and airy house to live in. The house is a great gift for my family after years of hardship. This is not only a roof to protect us from the rain and sun, but also a great spiritual encouragement. I feel the care and sharing of the whole community. I hope the program will help many other disadvantaged people to have a solid home like my family.”

Like Mr. Be's family, thanks to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, hundreds of people in difficult circumstances, poor households, and policy households in the province have been able to live in more spacious and solid houses.

In addition to the achieved results, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province also encountered certain difficulties. Therefore, in the coming time, the Steering Committee of Binh Duong province will continue to advise the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to strengthen the direction of the Steering Committees of localities to accelerate the progress of construction, repair and handover of houses on schedule, completing 100% before June 30, 2025. Localities continue to accelerate the progress of starting construction, completing construction, repair and handing over houses according to plan.
