On November 24, at Duc Toan Company Limited (Phu Tai Industrial Park, Quy Nhon Bac Ward, Gia Lai Province), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) presented emergency aid of 1 billion VND to union members and workers who were severely affected by storm No. 13 and the recent floods. Vice President of the VGCL Huynh Thanh Xuan attended and presented the aid.

At the program, 62 employees of Duc Toan Company Limited received support of 2 million VND/person, from a budget of 1 billion VND from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
On this occasion, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation supported 200 million VND, the Bac Ninh Province Labor Federation supported 150 million VND. Immediately after the program, the Gia Lai Province Labor Federation continued to receive an additional 200 million VND in support from the Da Nang City Labor Federation and contributions from many other units.
Receiving the support, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Permanent Vice President of Gia Lai Provincial Confederation of Labor, expressed her sincere thanks to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, other provincial Confederations of Labor and Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan.
"The Provincial Federation of Labor Standing Committee is committed to allocating and supporting the right people, for the right purposes, transparently, ensuring that each gift reaches the workers and employees affected by storms and floods as soon as possible," Ms. Thuy affirmed.
According to Ms. Thuy, in just a short time, Gia Lai has been continuously affected by storm No. 13 and the historic flood, causing heavy damage to people and property, directly affecting many members and workers. In difficult times, the timely attention and support from the Central Government, organizations and localities across the country, including the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, has provided additional resources for workers to soon stabilize their lives.
Storm No. 13 and the recent historic flood swept through many localities in the east of Gia Lai province, causing economic damage of more than 6,000 billion VND, severely affecting tens of thousands of people, including many members of the public and workers.
Before they could recover from the storm, they had to face floods, causing both property and mental damage. Ms. Nguyen Thi Gai (67 years old, resident of Tuy Phuoc Tay commune) - a worker at Duc Toan Company Limited - shared: "The flood was unprecedented, all the furniture in the house was submerged and completely damaged. Half a month ago, a fierce storm blew away the entire corrugated iron roof, and as soon as the roof was installed, the flood submerged the furniture again. I was very happy to receive support from the Union, this amount of money helps to overcome the current difficulties."
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhi (resident of Quy Nhon Bac ward) - a worker at the same company - sadly recounted that her house was completely damaged, her family's finances were exhausted after two consecutive natural disasters. Her husband was seriously injured in the storm and is currently undergoing surgery in Ho Chi Minh City, making their already difficult life even more difficult.

"In times of danger, I received help from neighbors and philanthropists, and now the timely care and support from the Trade Union. I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without this support, I don't know how to get up," said Nhi.
Along with the support gifts, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan, on behalf of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, sent his deep condolences to the government, people and all union members and workers of Gia Lai province for the losses and damages caused by storms and floods.
Faced with the urgent difficulties, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has deployed emergency support activities, contributing to the localities and businesses to overcome the consequences, helping cadres, union members, workers and people to soon stabilize their lives.

"Today's gifts demonstrate the responsibility and affection of the Trade Union organization, aiming to encourage and promptly share difficulties, help union members and workers quickly overcome losses, stabilize their lives and return to work, and support businesses to resume production chains," said Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested the Gia Lai Confederation of Labor to continue to promote its responsibility and closely coordinate with units, localities and enterprises in taking care of union members and workers; thereby contributing to promoting production and business activities, supporting the province to complete socio-economic development targets.
