The fight against drugs cannot be without the role of family

Another reference is that recently there have been many drug cases with a large number of participants discovered in June - the month of action against drugs as reported by the press. It is worth mentioning that the defendants involved in drug cases are mostly young people, and drug crimes are getting younger and younger.

Many defendants said they turned to drugs because they were frustrated with their family situation or because their families did not care for them. They turned from drug addiction to drug trafficking and drug trafficking. The path of these young people could have been different. But the lack of care from their families pushed them in a different direction.

Family must be the first and regular place to detect unusual signs in children in order to take preventive measures.

However, the lack of attention of many parents, they often leave their children to the helpers when at home and teachers when the children go to school. Many parents even spoil their children by giving them a lot of material things but do not control their spending, use or easily meet the amount of money their children ask for without knowing the reason... Those things have made it easy for drug abuse and many other evils to lure and entice their children. At many drug crime trials, many adults burst into tears. Those late tears do not solve anything.

Since ancient times, families have always played a very important role in nurturing,educating and protecting children. Aware of the importance of this "soft shield", the 2021 Law on Drug Prevention and Control has clearly defined the responsibilities of families, agencies, organizations and communities in managing illegal drug users in the law with the desire to further enhance the responsibility of subjects in preventing and combating drug abuse. However, efforts to improve the quality of law-making have not been able to help reduce drug-related law violations. Instead of lax management of children and implicitly assuming that the fight against drugs is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies, each family must be fully aware that the role of the family in the fight against drugs is indispensable to change behavior.

The theme of the 2025 Drug Prevention and Control Action Month was chosen as “A common determination - For a drug-free community”, which clearly stated that only determination can push back social evils. How strong and sustainable that determination is depends on the joint efforts and consensus of many social forces, in which the role of the family is indispensable. Each family acts together by changing their thinking, adjusting their behavior; loving and caring more for their children, proactively detecting abnormalities in their children, we will soon create communities of action with the authorities to create strength to prevent and gradually push back drug crimes.
