On the morning of April 30, the final 139km race from Tay Ninh to Ho Chi Minh City took place in a jubilant atmosphere, when thousands of people stood on both sides of the road waving red flags with yellow stars to welcome the racers to the finish line at Thong Nhat Hall - the sacred place marking the event of April 30, 1975.
On the road full of flags and flowers, the teams competed fiercely with a series of breakthrough attacks. Pham Quoc Thien (Gao Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang ) and Nguyen Truc Xinh (TP HCM New Group) took turns winning two awards along the way. The "lungless" racer Truc Xinh then led alone for a long distance, but was caught by the larger group when only 6 km from the finish line.
The drama intensified in the final kilometers when riders from Military Zone 7, Dong Thap, Vinama, and Dong Nai continuously accelerated. However, the overall victory belonged to "sprint king" Nick Kergozou (620 Vinh Long Agriculture ). The New Zealand foreigner once again affirmed his class when he started in an unfavorable position but still broke away to finish first, winning the 11th stage of the season - breaking the record of 10 stages held by Petr Rikunov (Loc Troi An Giang).
Savva Novikov (Binh Minh Binh Duong Plastics) finished second, while Nguyen Van Binh (HCMC New Group) finished third.
In the end, Mikhail Fokin (Loc Troi An Giang) successfully defended the prestigious Yellow Jersey - the title for the racer with the lowest total time after 25 stages, receiving a prize of 200 million VND. Savva Novikov and Samuel Jenner ranked second and third individually, respectively, receiving prizes of 100 and 50 million VND.
In the category for the best Vietnamese racer (Orange jersey), Nguyen Hoang Sang (Le Fruit Maxxis Dong Nai) won the title with a prize of 100 million VND. Pham Le Xuan Loc (Military Zone 7) and Tran Le Minh Tuan (HCM City Vinama) ranked second and third respectively.
The remaining titles include: Green jersey - sprint king: Nick Kergozou (620 Vinh Long Agriculture); Red dot jersey - mountain king: Savva Novikov (Binh Minh Binh Duong Plastic); White jersey - excellent young racer: Pham Le Xuan Loc (Military Zone 7).
The team championship belongs to Loc Troi An Giang Group. The Military Region 7 racing team won the style award.
Compassionate support for the community
The closing ceremony was also an opportunity for the organizers and sponsor Ton Dong A to spread humanistic values. More than 1.5 billion VND was awarded to the following units: Naval Region 2 Command, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Thanh Nien Newspaper, University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Children's Support Fund and Binh Duong Provincial Red Cross.
Not only providing professional sponsorship, Ton Dong A and the organizing committee also spent more than 2.5 billion VND on charity activities throughout the race. Since 2016, the total charity fund through the race has exceeded 14.2 billion VND - a clear demonstration of the motto "Together building a green life".
