On May 29, Ho Chi Minh City International College (Binh Tan District) announced that 100% of nursing graduates were accepted to work at Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC).
MSc. Nguyen Dang Ly, principal of the school, said In the context of the nursing industry being seriously short of high-quality human resources, training schools are actively cooperating with hospitals to meet this need. In 2022, the school implemented cooperation with Children's Hospital 1, and to date, the first group of students trained under the program have "sweetened fruit".
"This is the first "ordered" class from Children's Hospital 1. After the internship, nearly 30 students were accepted to work at the hospital. This training program has opened a new direction to help train more closely between "School - Institute", at the same time, providing high-quality nursing human resources for medical facilities" - Master Ly emphasized.
100% of interns at Nhi Dong 1 Hospital are employed
With this program, students not only study theory at school but also practice full-time at the hospital. Students are assigned to assist other doctors and nurses, participate in shifts and even night shifts...
"Under the direct guidance of head nurses and doctors in departments and rooms, students are trained in professional knowledge, attitude, ethics and hospital culture. This helps them fully adapt to the intensity and rhythm of work of a nurse at a frontline hospital" - MSc. Ly added.
According to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City VocationalEducation Association, the demand for high-quality human resources in the nursing industry is very large. Nursing graduates not only work domestically but also have the opportunity to develop their careers in advanced countries such as Germany and Japan, especially countries with aging populations.
"The nursing profession, whether graduated from secondary school, college or university, has a lot of potential for development, however, the most important thing is still professional skills and a progressive attitude. If you have a bad working attitude and do not have the will to progress, you will definitely not be able to survive in this profession" - Mr. Tuan emphasized.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Nursing Association, our country is seriously lacking in nursing human resources. In 2024, the nursing ratio in Vietnam will only reach 18/10,000 people, much lower than the global average, equal to 1/8 of developed countries. The Vietnam Nursing Association aims to increase this ratio to 25 nurses/10,000 people by 2025 and 33 nurses/10,000 people by 2030.
