Da Nang has a space to display paintings by famous painter Le Ba Dang.

NDO - The exhibition space "Le Ba Dang Art Collection" is solemnly placed on the 3rd floor of the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum. This is an art collection donated by Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen-Thuy Khue, safely transported from France to Da Nang in November 2023.

This is a space to honor the talented Vietnamese artist - world- famous painter Le Ba Dang and to express gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen-Thuy Khue for preserving and donating the precious collection to the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum. And to introduce this special collection to the public who love visual arts in Da Nang in particular and tourists across the country in general.

The exhibition space of “Le Ba Dang Art Collection” with 38 artifacts and 113 documents: paintings, statues, carpets, books, documents, tools... made of many different materials. With rich themes and content about natural beauty, people and culture of Vietnam, covering the creative stages of the famous painter Le Ba Dang.

Painter Le Ba Dang was born in 1922, is a famous Vietnamese visual artist living in France, from Quang Tri province. He studied at the School of Fine Arts (Ecole des Beaux-Arts) in Toulouse, France. He passed away on March 7, 2015 in Paris (France), at the age of 94. Throughout his artistic life, he left behind a huge body of work, along with many valuable international awards, receiving many titles of talent...

He is known to the world for many prestigious art awards, being awarded the “Artist of Talent and Humanitarian Thought” by the US in 1989; being voted “Global Celebrity” by the UK in 1992; and being awarded the “French Order of Arts and Culture” by France in 1994.

Although living and working in France, Le Ba Dang always turned his attention to his homeland. He and famous artists such as Picasso, Matta... called on artists and intellectuals around the world to participate in the "Day for Vietnamese Knowledge" to support peace and oppose the war in Vietnam. In 2005, he was honored to receive the "Resistance War Against America to Save the Country" Medal from the State and many other noble awards and certificates of merit. Since 2002, he has frequently returned to Vietnam and established the Le Ba Dang Center in Hue in 2006.

In July 2023, the Da Nang Museum of Fine Arts was honored to receive a collection of 253 artifacts from Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen-Thuy Khue, two Vietnamese intellectuals living and working in France, who preserve many works of art by the world-famous painter Le Ba Dang, including: 131 works of art by painter Le Ba Dang and 16 stone sculptures, 19 zinc prints, 71 molds, and 16 of his crafting tools.

After receiving the artifacts and completing the scientific records for each artifact in the collection, the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum renovated and adjusted part of the thematic exhibition space on the 3rd floor into the exhibition space of the "Le Ba Dang Art Collection" donated by Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen-Thuy Khue.

The Da Nang Fine Arts Museum will hold the Announcement Ceremony of the Exhibition Space “Le Ba Dang Art Collection” on November 1. The event will be attended by Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen-Thuy Khue, who are currently living in the French Republic, and Mr. Lam Nhan and Mrs. Pham Lan Huong, representing their family in Vietnam.
