Da Nang researches building 5 floating islands in the bay

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang said that the city is studying a project to form a Free Trade Zone, a Financial and Trade Service Center in the form of calling for investment to build 5 floating islands on Da Nang Bay, creating about 48km of new sea route on these islands. The floating islands on Da Nang Bay will be a new urban area, stretching from Hai Chau district through Thanh Khe district, Lien Chieu district.

This is a very large and unique project. Therefore, the city is directing careful research, developing plans and must find investment methods with special mechanisms to develop similar to the Dubai model.

“If it is done, it will have great value, not only promoting the city's socio -economic development for decades to come but also building the image and brand of a new Da Nang in the region and internationally,” Mr. Quang emphasized.

Mr. Quang said that at the upcoming 9th session, the National Assembly will consider and approve a resolution to build an international financial center in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, the Politburo concluded that a regional financial center would be built in Da Nang. However, during the construction and research process, both the city and the ministries and the Government found that it was necessary to build an international financial center in two locations: Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

It will clearly define the functions of each city, what issues to focus on, how to promote potential advantages, especially the interest of investors in the two localities.

Da Nang City is located in the middle of Vietnam, making it very convenient to access the North and South for international travel. The coastal city of Da Nang has a very attractive living and working ecosystem for human resources working in the finance and technology sectors. Many investors appreciate the determination of Da Nang City leaders, along with businesses and people, in building new economic development institutions.

According to the Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, the city is urgently submitting to the Prime Minister for an early decision on the establishment of a Free Trade Zone. When forming a Free Trade Zone, it means forming a new economic model to attract investment in the fields of production, logistics, and high-class trade and services. Thereby creating jobs, attracting high-quality human resources, and turning Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang into developed urban areas following the model of today's developed countries.
