Truong Sa Special Economic Zone after storm No. 13: No damage to people and property

On November 6, after storm No. 13 passed, all islands in the Truong Sa special zone basically overcame the consequences, ensuring absolute safety for people, structures, ships, boats, and fishing equipment of fishermen taking shelter on the islands.

As soon as the storm formed in the East Sea, the islands of Brigade 146, Naval Region 4 proactively deployed response plans according to plan: Organizing to tie, fix, and safely cover the entire technical system and constructions on the island. The islands closely coordinated with the Border Guard force and the forces on the island to actively propagate, guide, and support nearly 300 fishing boats with more than 3,400 fishermen to enter the ship locks and reservoirs to safely avoid the storm. Thanks to smooth coordination, scientific organization, and proper technical guidance, all fishing boats were safely anchored, without collisions, drifting, or damage.

During the storm, officers and soldiers on the islands promoted the spirit of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers – Navy soldiers”, wholeheartedly helping people stabilize their living conditions and ensuring fresh water for more than 400 fishermen on the island. The islands supported 497 fishermen with food, medicine, more than 218m3 of fresh water, nearly 50 boxes of instant noodles, 200kg of rice, 300kg of vegetables and many other necessities, helping people to feel secure during the storm and maintain their health.

Thanks to early initiative, close coordination and proper implementation of technical procedures, the entire Truong Sa special zone has ensured absolute safety for people, vehicles and property, with no casualties or damage to fishing boats. Currently, the islands are urgently reviewing and consolidating structures, restoring normal activities, and continuing to support fishermen to go offshore.
