The People's Committee of Hau Giang province said that the Provincial People's Committee has directed agencies and units in the province, the People's Committees at district and commune levels to organize information and propaganda, mobilize cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and people about the arrangement of administrative units at provincial and commune levels, contributing to creating consensus and support from Party committees at all levels, the political system and people in the area.
The preparation and posting of the voter list will be carried out by the People's Committee at the commune level on April 1, 2025; at the same time, it will be posted at the hamlet headquarters, areas, and residential community points for people to easily follow; the time to collect voters' opinions will start from April 15, 2025 and be completed on April 16, 2025.
As a result, regarding the arrangement of provincial administrative units , 193,434/194,299 voters agreed, reaching a rate of 99.55%. The number of voters who disagreed was 417, accounting for a rate of 0.21%.
Regarding the arrangement of commune-level administrative units , 193,145/194,299 voters agreed, reaching a rate of 99.41%. The number of voters who disagreed was 706, accounting for a rate of 0.36%.
* According to Decision No. 759/QD-TTg dated April 14, 2025 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on rearranging and reorganizing administrative units at all levels and building a 2-level local government organization model, merging Soc Trang province, Hau Giang province and Can Tho city into a new centrally-run city called Can Tho city, the administrative - political center is located in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city today (reducing 2 provinces), with a natural area of 6,360.8 km2 and a population of 3,207,000 people.
Hau Giang province has developed a project to rearrange commune-level administrative units into new grassroots administrative units and submitted it to the Government for submission to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration and approval: From 75 commune-level administrative units (51 communes, 13 wards, 11 towns), reduced to 28 commune-level administrative units (21 communes and 7 wards). Thus, the whole province reduced 47 commune-level administrative units (30 communes, 06 wards and 11 towns), reaching 62.66%.
