Male student who behaved disrespectfully towards veteran was reprimanded

Immediately after the incident in which NNG student (class 29, Chinese Language major) acted disrespectfully towards a veteran and was condemned by public opinion, Van Lang University invited this male student and his family to the school to work directly.

Through student reports, comprehensive assessment of students' learning process at the School and consultation with educational management agencies, based on current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the Student Reward and Discipline Council of Van Lang University held a meeting and determined the form of reprimand and education for students.

The school has agreed on aneducational form of handling, creating conditions for students to have the opportunity to correct mistakes, mature, and require students to seriously learn from their experiences and commit to not repeating substandard behaviors.

This form of handling is based on Article 6, Circular 10/2016 promulgating regulations on student work for full-time university training programs, compared with Article 3 of Regulations on violation content and disciplinary framework for students of Van Lang University (Decision 559/QD-DHVL dated May 8, 2023) and school regulations of Van Lang University.

Van Lang University also requested the Student Support Center, the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and related units to continue monitoring and educating NNG students; and called on families to join hands in educating learners.

The school said that although the incident was a personal act of a student that took place outside the scope of the school's training activities, Van Lang University emphasized that it "has the responsibility to accompany students through the learning and growing process, so that young people have the opportunity to develop, self-reflect, correct mistakes if they make mistakes, and strive to become a better version".
