On the occasion of Sports Day (June 1) of the German Embassy in Hanoi, the Embassy welcomed special guests, the Vietnamese women's football team.
The Vietnam women's football team will participate for the first time in the 2023 Women's World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.
To prepare for the Women's World Cup Finals, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will train in Germany and Poland from June 5 to 24, including a number of friendly matches.
In particular, the Vietnamese women's team will play a friendly match with the German women's team on June 24 in the city of Offenbach on the Main River.
Looking forward to the training period in Germany and on the occasion of the German Embassy's Sports Day in Hanoi , today (June 1), Deputy Ambassador Simon Kreye and many members of the Embassy welcomed coach Mai Duc Chung and his students at the Embassy headquarters.

Deputy Ambassador Simon Kreye congratulated the Vietnamese women's team on qualifying for the Women's World Cup for the first time, expressed his joy that the team will go to Germany to train in preparation for the world's biggest women's football tournament, and wished the team much success at the World Cup.
Coach Mai Duc Chung and captain Huynh Nhu, on behalf of the team, thanked the Embassy for inviting the team to the exchange, stating that the German women's team is a top-class team in the world, and the Vietnamese women's team hopes to learn many lessons from the friendly match with the German women's players.

During the meeting, the Embassy members and the women's team also had some exchanges. In Germany as well as in Vietnam, football is the most popular sport, so there were many common topics for both sides to share with each other.
The Embassy members got to understand more about the daily training and the process of becoming a female player. The female players also got a clearer picture of the training programs in Germany.
Afterwards, the Embassy members and the female players enthusiastically participated in the goal kicking competition. With their accurate kicks, the female players brought home prizes such as motorbike helmets with the logo of the German Embassy.
