Vietnamese Ambassador presents credentials to President of Belarus

President Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko affirmed that Belarus considers Vietnam one of Belarus's key partners in the Asian region.

On September 11, in the capital Minsk, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Trung presented the Letter of Credence of President Luong Cuong to Belarusian President Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko.

At the ceremony to receive the Letter of Credentials, President Lukashenko welcomed Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung to take up his duties in Belarus at an important time when the two countries have just upgraded their relations to a Strategic Partnership.

President Lukashenko affirmed that Belarus considers Vietnam one of Belarus's key partners in the Asian region, a growth engine of the world economy .

Emphasizing the great significance of the Vietnam-Belarus Strategic Partnership, the result of the State visit of General Secretary of the Party Central Committee To Lam to Belarus in May 2025, President Lukashenko affirmed that Belarus is committed to fully implementing all commitments and strategic agreements reached at high levels and "assigned tasks" to the Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus with the hope of soon achieving specific and practical cooperation results in the coming time.

Respectfully conveying the friendly greetings and best wishes of President Luong Cuong to President Lukashenko and the people of Belarus, Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung emphasized that Vietnam always considers Belarus an important partner in the European region.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung also expressed Vietnam's gratitude for the solidarity, friendship and spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance that the Belarusian people have given to our country throughout the long history of developing bilateral relations.

The Ambassador pledged to do his best to foster the traditional friendship and promote the development of the relationship between the two countries, for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

The Ambassador conveyed President Luong Cuong's invitation to President Lukashenko to pay an official visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time.

Vietnam and Belarus established diplomatic relations in December 1991, shortly after the Republic of Belarus declared independence. Belarus established its embassy in Hanoi in 1998. Vietnam established its embassy in Belarus in October 2003 and appointed its first permanent ambassador in Minsk in March 2005.

Over the past three decades, the friendship and cooperation have developed in many fields, on the basis of traditional relations and cooperation during the Soviet Union period.

In May 2025, during General Secretary To Lam's state visit to Belarus, the two countries agreed to upgrade their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, opening a new phase for bilateral relations in a new era. Currently, there are over 600 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in the Republic of Belarus.
