Dak Lak province has more than 71 km of border adjacent to Mundulkiri province - Kingdom of Cambodia; there are 4 border communes in two districts Buon Don (73,427 people, ethnic minorities account for 46.5%) and Ea Sup (80,647 people, ethnic minorities account for 45.09%).
According to the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, many policies and strategies for socio -economic development in the border area have contributed to improving people's lives, building and consolidating the province's national defense and border defense posture. Accordingly, the border area in the province has received attention and priority investment from the National Target Programs.
In the period 2016 - 2022, the total investment cost for infrastructure in border communes under the National Target Programs in Dak Lak province is more than 190.8 billion VND.

In addition, vocational training programs, job conversion, job creation; credit policies; support for production, business and service development; policies on housing, residential land, production land, and domestic water for ethnic minorities... have changed the socio-economic landscape of the border area. Up to now, the border commune of Ea Bung (Ea Sup district) has met the new rural standards; Ia Rve commune (Ea Sup district) and Ia Lop commune (Ea Sup district) have met 12/19 new rural criteria...
According to Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Canh, in order to effectively promote investment resources, the province will focus on overcoming difficulties and limitations; at the same time, propose the Government to consider issuing specific mechanisms and policies for socio-economic development of the land border line in accordance with the actual situation of the locality in the period of 2023 - 2030, with a vision to 2035.
At the same time, Dak Lak province proposed that the Central Government continue to consider supporting capital to invest in completing projects to arrange and stabilize spontaneous migrants in the two border districts; pay attention to investing in building and upgrading the traffic system to Border Guard Stations and upgrading, asphalting and concreting the border patrol routes in the area, in order to contribute to ensuring security in the border area. In particular, the Central Government continues to organize the implementation of the Social Policy Credit Management model implemented by the Bank for Social Policies to contribute to the effective implementation of National Target Programs, ensuring social security in border areas; pay attention to investing in building large, key projects with spillover effects, creating momentum for the development of border areas, helping border communes develop their socio-economy quickly and sustainably in the coming time./.
