The power grid system in the area managed by the Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team is quite large in scale: the 35kV line is over 315km long; the 6kV line is nearly 5km long; the 0.4kV line is over 141km long with a total of 130 transformer stations, a total capacity of over 22,000 kVA; with nearly 6,000 households using electricity. The power grid spreads across 5 communes: Nam Hang, Le Loi, Muong Mo, Pa Tan and Hua Bum, many of which are difficult to access when landslides, flash floods and flash floods occur.
Right from the beginning of the year, the Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team has developed and implemented a realistic 2025 disaster prevention and search and rescue plan, strengthening on-site response capacity according to the "4 on-site" motto: on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means, on-site logistics. At the same time, the organization of the shock force has been improved, specific tasks have been assigned to each technical officer and worker; and 24/7 duty has been maintained during the flood season. To promptly respond to natural disasters, the unit has fully prepared spare materials and equipment such as iron poles, conductors, insulators, fuses, transformers, meters, etc.
Mechanical equipment such as cranes, generators, measuring equipment, safety tools, medicine, and food are also checked, supplemented, and prepared for emergency situations. Particularly for areas at risk of being isolated due to landslides and flash floods, the team proactively coordinates with local authorities to arrange material gathering points near the scene to minimize incident handling time.
From the experience of the floods in 2024 that caused more than 2.4 billion VND in damage to the power grid in the communes, this year, the Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team has paid special attention to inspecting, reviewing and reinforcing vulnerable points such as: column foundations on hillsides, along streams, locations at risk of landslides or tall trees that can easily fall onto the power grid. Regularly organize technical working groups to measure the grounding of lightning protection systems, replace loose wires, blurred warning signs, reinforce transformer stations and clean insulation.
Workers of the Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team inspect the power grid system.
Mr. Tran Viet Thanh - Head of the Technical Planning Team, Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team said: "Every day we check the power grid in the villages, when we detect any safety risks such as loose wires, tilted poles or violated corridors, we will handle them immediately. In addition, clearing trees along the corridor is also carried out regularly to avoid trees falling on the power lines". The unit also sets up priority power supply plans for critical loads such as hospitals, administrative agencies, and schools to ensure that when a large-scale incident occurs, power supply for essential activities is maintained.
When there is information about storms and rains, the unit immediately activates response situations, holds a quick meeting of the PCTT-TKCN Command Committee, and mobilizes human resources and vehicles to key locations. All work is carried out urgently according to the drilled procedures. Technical staff work closely with the shift dispatcher and grid operation team to isolate the incident area, protect the safety of the remaining power system and quickly restore power supply.
Since the beginning of 2025, floods, whirlwinds, and landslides have occurred in many areas of Nam Hang, Le Loi, and Muong Mo communes. Thanks to careful preparation, the Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team quickly deployed shock troops, used temporary iron poles to rebuild and connect, ensuring power supply was restored in less than 6 hours. Some situations such as fallen trees and transformer fires were also successfully handled by the unit within 4 hours.
Mr. Do Van Toan - Deputy Director in charge of technical matters of the Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team affirmed: "We always determine that every minute of power outage will affect people's lives and production, so we must shorten the time to fix the problem as much as possible. In addition, the team also closely coordinates with local authorities to promote the protection of the power grid safety corridor, safe and economical use of electricity through the media, social networks, consulting, and distributing leaflets".
Electricity officials went to each household to propagate and instruct on how to check electrical equipment, avoid installing sockets in wet places, do not touch fallen electric wires, do not climb electric poles without permission... In particular, people are advised to turn off the power when not in use and immediately call the hotline number when they see an unusual problem. Mr. Ca Van Ngoan in Nam Cay village (Nam Hang commune) said: "Before, my family did not know how to use electricity safely, but after being instructed by Electricity officials, I knew how to check the wires, turn off the devices when not in use and notify the Electricity when detecting danger".
...modern equipment is also used to check the safety of the power grid.
Coordination with local authorities is also closely implemented, with smooth communication. Thanks to that, when a natural disaster occurs, the unit can mobilize human resources and vehicles from the communes to support and quickly access the affected area.
It can be affirmed that, thanks to the initiative in all aspects from plans, equipment to people and coordination, the Nam Hang Regional Power Management Team has been ensuring the safety of the power grid system during the rainy and flood season. Thereby, ensuring electricity for life and production, contributing to maintaining energy security in the area managed by the unit, serving the socio-economic development in the area.
